105 Br-5800 R55c4 Brake Shoes

The Shimano 105 BR-5800 R55C4 Brake Shoes are replacement rim brake pads designed for the 105 fifth-generation groupset. Engineered for alloy rims, they bring dependable stopping power to road cyclists across India — whether navigating Pune's congested traffic or managing fast descents on the Khandala or Ooty Ghats where consistent braking response is non-negotiable.

Use Cases

Daily training. Stiff sole and breathable upper for repeated training in Indian heat and humidity.

Race day. Power transfer and snug retention for competitive efforts.

Indoor training. Compatible with indoor trainer cleats for structured Zwift, TrainerRoad, or Wahoo SYSTM workouts.

Our Take

For Indian riders on alloy-rim road bikes, the R55C4 compound is a sensible, well-priced upgrade that improves wet-weather bite noticeably — a genuine concern during Mumbai or Chennai monsoons. The 105-level compound delivers modulation that rivals higher-tier pads at a fraction of the cost. At Rs. 890, these are among the best-value brake consumables you can put on a rim-brake road bike. Replace them before the rains arrive.

Sizing for Indian Riders

These pads are specific to the BR-5800 caliper and compatible 105-generation brakes. They are designed exclusively for alloy rims — do not fit on carbon rims. European sizing conventions do not apply here; compatibility is caliper-specific. Riders in hotter cities like Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, or Delhi should inspect pads more frequently, as high ambient temperatures accelerate compound wear.

Compatibility Notes

Designed for Shimano BR-5800 rim brake calipers and compatible 105-series road groupsets. Suitable for alloy rims only — using these on carbon rims risks overheating and rim damage. Not compatible with disc brake systems. Check that your current brake caliper is a BR-5800 or confirmed R55C4-compatible model before ordering.

Pairs Well With

Round out your rim brake system with stainless brake cables and housing for crisp lever feel, bar tape with good grip for sweaty monsoon hands, a quality chain lubricant suited to Indian conditions, and a torque wrench for correct caliper bolt tightening. All available at Cobbled Climbs.
