31 Strands X-long Brake Inner Cable

Brake feel is only as good as the cable running through your housing. The Alligator 31 Strands X-long Brake Inner Cable uses a fine multi-strand construction to deliver consistent, low-friction braking response — whether you're scrubbing speed on a Lonavala descent or navigating Chennai's stop-start traffic in monsoon humidity.

Use Cases

Daily training. Reliable use across Indian training conditions — heat, humidity, and rough tarmac.

Race day. Performance-grade construction for competitive efforts.

Long rides. Built for full-day rides across Western Ghats, Sahyadri, or Nilgiri climbs.

Our Take

Multi-strand cable construction means each individual wire is thinner and more flexible, reducing friction inside the housing and giving your brake lever a more direct, confident feel. For Indian riders tackling high-humidity conditions in Coorg, coastal routes around Goa, or the long climbs above Ooty, fresher cables make a real difference to braking consistency. The X-long length suits larger frames and custom cable routings without a splice.

Sizing for Indian Riders

This is a brake inner cable, not apparel — sizing here means cable length and fitment, not body size. The X-long designation suits larger frame sizes and non-standard cable routings. Verify your brake cable head type (barrel or mushroom end) matches your brake lever before ordering. Contact Cobbled Climbs if your frame has an unusual routing layout.

Compatibility Notes

Suited to mechanical rim and mechanical disc brake systems. Check whether your brake levers require a barrel or mushroom cable head — Shimano and SRAM road levers differ from MTB and flat-bar levers. Pair with compatible cable housing for best performance. Not suitable for hydraulic brake systems. Replace cable end caps after trimming to prevent fraying.

Pairs Well With

For a complete cable refresh, consider pairing with quality brake cable housing, ferrules and end caps for a clean finish, a cycling-specific cable cutter, and a light cable lubricant or grease to extend service life through the Indian monsoon season.
