40 Series Zs44/28.6 Top Tall Cover Headset Assembly

The Cane Creek 40 Series Zs44/28.6 Top Tall Cover Headset Assembly is a precision-engineered replacement headset component built to the ZS44 zero-stack standard, accepting a 28.6mm fork steerer. Designed for riders who want reliable steering feel and long service life, it suits road and gravel bikes across India's varied riding conditions — from smooth coastal highways to the punishing climbs above Lonavala and Khandala.

Use Cases

Daily training. Reliable construction for repeat use.

Race day. Lightweight, stiff design for power transfer and aerodynamics.

Fit adjustment. Right stem length critical for comfortable bike fit.

Our Take

India's combination of summer heat, monsoon humidity, and abrasive road grit is hard on headsets. The Cane Creek 40 Series earns its place as one of the most dependable headset upgrades you can make. The tall cover design adds extra protection against water ingress during heavy rains in Pune, Chennai, or Kolkata, while the 40 Series bearing quality delivers consistently smooth steering over thousands of kilometres. At Rs. 2,350, this is a sensible, durable investment in your bike's long-term reliability.

Sizing for Indian Riders

This headset is a component fit, not a body-size issue — compatibility depends entirely on your frame and fork. The ZS44 standard means your head tube must have a 44mm zero-stack lower cup seat, and the fork steerer must be 28.6mm (1-1/8 inch). Confirm both measurements before ordering. If unsure, photograph your existing headset and contact Cobbled Climbs for guidance.

Compatibility Notes

Fits frames with a ZS44 (zero-stack) head tube and forks with a 28.6mm (1-1/8 inch) straight steerer. Not compatible with tapered forks or IS/EC cup standards. Installation requires a headset press — do not hammer into place. Apply a light layer of waterproof grease to the cup exterior before pressing, especially in high-humidity regions. All Cane Creek products at Cobbled Climbs are 100% genuine and authorised.

Pairs Well With

Complete your headset service with waterproof bearing grease, a quality headset press tool, a star-fangled nut setter, and a torque wrench. If you are rebuilding the front end of your bike, consider pairing with a new stem and handlebar combination for a full refresh.
