Alt-position Cage Mounts

Mounting a bottle cage where no standard braze-on exists is a genuine challenge on modern frames — whether you're on a carbon road bike in Pune, a gravel rig heading into the Nilgiris, or a touring setup loaded for a Leh expedition. The Topeak Alt-position Cage Mounts solve this by opening up frame real estate that would otherwise go unused, keeping your hydration accessible without compromising the ride.

Use Cases

Standard road bikes. Universal-fit cages for most road and gravel frames.

Compact frames. Side-load options for compact Indian-sized frames where clearance is tight.

Race day. Lightweight construction for competitive setups and weight-conscious builds.

Our Take

India's long climbs — Khandala, Coorg, Ooty — demand serious hydration planning. Running out of water mid-ascent in 35°C+ heat isn't a minor inconvenience; it ends rides. The Topeak Alt-position Cage Mounts let you add a second or third bottle position on frames with limited braze-ons, making them genuinely useful for Indian conditions where water stops are unpredictable and distances between them can stretch well beyond comfort.

Sizing for Indian Riders

These mounts attach to the frame rather than the rider, so personal sizing doesn't apply. What matters is your frame's tube diameter and geometry. Check that the mount's clamp range covers your frame's down tube or seat tube before ordering. Compact and sloping frames common among Indian riders with shorter torsos may benefit from the additional cage position near the down tube.

Compatibility Notes

These mounts are designed to work with standard bottle cages using M5 bolt fixing. Confirm your frame's tube diameter falls within the mount's clamp range. Works with most round and near-round tube profiles. Not all mounts suit aero or heavily profiled tubes — verify before fitting. All Topeak products at Cobbled Climbs are 100% genuine and authorised.

Pairs Well With

Complete your hydration setup with standard or oversized water bottles, insulated bottle cages suited to Indian summer heat, frame bags for bikepacking, and a hydration pack for longer off-road rides where multiple cage positions still fall short of demand.
