Ampp 400 Rechargeable Front Light

India's roads — from pre-dawn Pune ring-road training loops to dusk rides along Chennai's ECR — demand a front light that works hard in heat, humidity, and heavy traffic. The Cateye Ampp 400 Rechargeable Front Light delivers dependable output with USB recharging convenience, making it a practical everyday choice for commuters and enthusiastic riders alike.

Use Cases

Commuting. Visibility for early-morning and evening rides through Indian traffic.

Night training. High-output beam for night rides on unlit Indian roads.

Group rides. See-and-be-seen lighting for low-visibility conditions.

Our Take

The Cateye Ampp 400 sits in a sweet spot for Indian riders who need real-world visibility without carrying a charger everywhere. Pre-monsoon dust haze in Delhi, early-morning Lonavala climbs before sunrise, and the chaotic dusk traffic of Hyderabad's outer ring road all call for a light with genuine punch. Cateye's reputation for mount reliability and consistent output makes this a dependable pick for riders who log serious kilometres.

Sizing for Indian Riders

Lights don't have a size as such, but mount fit matters. The Cateye Ampp 400 uses a standard handlebar-bracket mount. Check your handlebar diameter — most road and MTB bars are 25.4mm or 31.8mm — before ordering. Riders using aero-profile bars or compact urban bars should confirm compatibility. Contact Cobbled Climbs if unsure about your specific setup.

Compatibility Notes

The Ampp 400 charges via USB, compatible with any standard USB power source — power banks, laptop ports, or wall adapters. The mount fits standard handlebar diameters and is compatible with Cateye's FlexTight bracket system. Pair with a Cateye rear light for a matched ecosystem. Store dry between monsoon rides to preserve the charging port.

Pairs Well With

Complete your visibility setup with a matched rear light for full road presence, a sturdy handlebar computer mount if bar space is limited, a waterproof saddle bag to carry a spare charging cable, and a quality helmet for added safety on dark Ooty and Coorg descents.
