DISC Brake Caliper Assembly Db5 Non Cps

The Avid DB5 Disc Brake Caliper Assembly is a mechanical disc brake caliper built for riders who demand consistent stopping power across varied terrain. Whether you are navigating monsoon-slicked roads in Pune, descending the Western Ghats near Lonavala, or managing Chennai's stop-start traffic, this caliper delivers reliable, controllable braking without the complexity of a hydraulic system. Cobbled Climbs is the authorised retailer for Rotor in India.

Use Cases

Daily training. Reliable use across Indian training conditions — heat, humidity, and rough tarmac.

Race day. Performance-grade construction for competitive efforts.

Long rides. Built for full-day rides across Western Ghats, Sahyadri, or Nilgiri climbs.

Our Take

For Indian riders who want disc brake confidence without the maintenance demands of hydraulic systems, the Avid DB5 hits a practical sweet spot. Mechanical actuation means straightforward cable adjustments at home or roadside — useful when you are mid-route on a Khandala descent or touring through Coorg. Modulation is predictable, heat dissipation is solid for sustained Ghat riding, and the Non-CPS (non-cartridge pad system) design keeps the setup straightforward and field-serviceable.

Sizing for Indian Riders

This is a caliper assembly, not a clothing item — fit refers to frame and fork compatibility. Confirm your frame uses post-mount disc tabs, as this caliper is post-mount specific. Rotor diameter must match your frame and fork specs; common sizes used on Indian mountain and gravel bikes are 160mm and 180mm. Adapter hardware may be required depending on your rotor size.

Compatibility Notes

The DB5 is a mechanical disc brake caliper using standard cable actuation — compatible with any flat-bar or drop-bar brake lever with a cable pull. Post-mount frame and fork tabs required; flat-mount frames will need an adapter. Uses standard Avid disc brake pads (non-cartridge type). Confirm rotor diameter with your frame specifications before ordering. Not hydraulic — no bleed kit or special fluid required.

Pairs Well With

Complete your braking setup with a compatible disc brake rotor (160mm or 180mm depending on your frame spec), stainless brake cables and housing, matching Avid DB-series brake levers, and disc-specific brake pads. A torque wrench is strongly recommended for correct caliper bolt torque.
