Basic Shifter Cable

The Jagwire Basic Shifter Cable is an entry-level replacement cable designed to restore crisp, accurate gear changes on road and MTB drivetrains. At Rs. 99, it is one of the most cost-effective maintenance items you can stock, and in India's dust, humidity, and monsoon conditions, keeping a spare in your kit bag simply makes sense. Cobbled Climbs is the exclusive Indian distributor for Campagnolo in India.

Use Cases

Daily training. Reliable use across Indian training conditions — heat, humidity, and rough tarmac.

Race day. Performance-grade construction for competitive efforts.

Long rides. Built for full-day rides across Western Ghats, Sahyadri, or Nilgiri climbs.

Our Take

For Indian riders tackling Pune's Katraj Ghat, Chennai's coastal humidity, or Hyderabad's dusty ring roads, shifter cable condition directly affects ride quality. Jagwire's Basic Shifter Cable uses a corrosion-resistant construction that holds up reasonably well between service intervals. At Rs. 99 with free delivery on orders above Rs. 2,500, there is no reason to delay a cable change — worn cables cause ghost shifts and missed gear cues on busy city roads.

Sizing for Indian Riders

Shifter cables are not sized by body measurements but by drivetrain compatibility. Confirm your groupset speed (10, 11, or 12-speed), shifter brand, and cable end type before ordering. No European-to-Indian conversion is needed here, but riders running mixed-brand drivetrains common in Indian budget builds should verify cable end compatibility before purchase.

Compatibility Notes

Compatible with most mechanical derailleur systems across Shimano, SRAM, and Campagnolo groupsets — confirm the cable end type matches your shifter. Not suitable for electronic or hydraulic drivetrains. Replace housing simultaneously for best shifting performance. Wipe and lightly lubricate the cable after installation; during monsoon season, increase service frequency to prevent corrosion inside the housing.

Pairs Well With

Complete your drivetrain service with compatible cable housing and end caps, wet-condition chain lubricant for monsoon riding, a chain wear checker tool, and a compact multi-tool with a screwdriver for cable anchor bolts. All available at Cobbled Climbs.
