Description
The Ceramic Speed BB86 SRAM DUB Bottom Bracket sits at the intersection of precision engineering and real-world performance. Designed for BB86 press-fit frames paired with SRAM DUB cranksets, it uses Ceramic Speed's signature ceramic ball bearings to reduce friction, extend service intervals, and keep your drivetrain running quietly — whether you're grinding up Lonavala or hammering through Coorg's rolling roads.
Use Cases
Daily training. Reliable construction for repeat use.
Race day. Lightweight, stiff design for power transfer and aerodynamics.
Fit adjustment. Right stem length critical for comfortable bike fit.
Our Take
India's riding conditions are punishing on bearings — monsoon grit, Pune's potholed tarmac, and Chennai's year-round humidity conspire to degrade standard steel bearings quickly. Ceramic Speed's ceramic balls shed water and debris far more effectively, and the reduction in rolling resistance is noticeable on long climbs. At Rs. 28,500, this is a premium commitment, but one that pays back in longer service life and consistently smooth pedalling. For SRAM DUB groupset users, this is the definitive BB86 upgrade.
Sizing for Indian Riders
This bottom bracket is not sized by rider body measurements — compatibility is determined by your frame's bottom bracket shell standard (BB86 press-fit) and your crankset (SRAM DUB spindle diameter). Confirm your frame shell is BB86 before ordering. If your frame uses a threaded BSA shell or a different press-fit standard (PF30, BB92), this unit will not fit. When in doubt, check your frame manufacturer's specification or contact the Cobbled Climbs team.
Compatibility Notes
Compatible with BB86 press-fit frames and SRAM DUB cranksets across road, gravel, and MTB applications. Not compatible with Shimano, Campagnolo, or non-DUB SRAM spindles. Professional installation is strongly recommended — press-fit bottom brackets require specific tooling for correct seating. Grease the shell before installation. During monsoon season, rinse the BB area after wet rides and inspect bearings periodically for creaking, which signals moisture ingress.
Pairs Well With
Complete the drivetrain with a SRAM DUB-compatible crankset, a high-quality wet-condition chain lubricant suited to Indian monsoon riding, a bottom bracket press tool if installing at home, and a torque wrench for precise crank bolt tightening. A chain wear checker rounds out a smart maintenance kit.
