Description
The Merida Big Nine 100 is a hardtail 29er mountain bike built on an aluminium frame, engineered for riders who want capable, trail-ready performance at an accessible price point. At Rs. 64,990, it arrives as a complete, professionally assembled platform — ready for everything from Pune's Sinhagad climbs to the rocky forest trails outside Coorg and Ooty.
Use Cases
Daily training. Reliable use across Indian training conditions — heat, humidity, and rough tarmac.
Race day. Performance-grade construction for competitive efforts.
Long rides. Built for full-day rides across Western Ghats, Sahyadri, or Nilgiri climbs.
Our Take
India's trail scene is growing fast, and the Big Nine 100 is well-positioned for it. The 29-inch wheel format rolls over roots, rocks, and the unpredictable surfaces common on Western Ghats approaches with confidence. Heavy-duty brakes inspire trust on steep descents where trail quality can change without warning. For riders in Hyderabad, Pune, or Delhi looking to move beyond road cycling, this is a considered entry into serious mountain biking — durable aluminium construction keeps long-term maintenance costs sensible.
Sizing for Indian Riders
Merida uses seat tube length or S/M/L designations depending on the model year. Indian riders tend to have proportionally shorter torsos relative to height, so measure both inseam and standing height before consulting the Merida geometry chart. If you sit between sizes, size down for a more aggressive trail position; size up for longer, more comfortable rides. A professional bike fit after delivery is strongly recommended.
Compatibility Notes
The Big Nine 100 ships as a complete bike — frame, wheels, drivetrain, and brakes are spec'd to work together. Pedals are not included; choose flat pedals for trail riding or 2-bolt SPD clipless pedals matched to your shoes. Schedule a first-service inspection after the initial 100 km to check cable tension, brake pad alignment, and bolt torques. Annual servicing maintains both performance and Merida's warranty coverage.
Pairs Well With
Complete your trail setup with a trail-specific helmet rated for mountain biking, flat or SPD clipless pedals, a hydration pack for longer rides in 35°C+ summer heat, and a quality tubeless tyre conversion kit or puncture repair kit for remote trail use — essential given India's variable trail surfaces.
