Big Nine TR 5000

The Merida Big Nine TR 5000 is a purpose-built hardtail mountain bike for riders who want serious off-road capability without compromise. With an aluminium frame engineered for trail riding, heavy-duty braking, and a drivetrain built to handle punishing terrain, this is a complete cycling platform ready for the trails around Pune, Coorg, Manali, and beyond.

Use Cases

Daily training. Reliable use across Indian training conditions — heat, humidity, and rough tarmac.

Race day. Performance-grade construction for competitive efforts.

Long rides. Built for full-day rides across Western Ghats, Sahyadri, or Nilgiri climbs.

Our Take

For Indian trail riders, the Big Nine TR 5000 hits a compelling point in Merida's hardtail lineup. The aluminium construction handles the mix of rocky singletrack, loose gravel, and rutted fire roads common across the Western Ghats and Himalayan foothills. At Rs. 2,09,990, you are buying a complete, thoughtfully specified machine — not a budget compromise. Riders in Pune, Bengaluru, and Shimla will find it well-suited to varied trail conditions year-round.

Sizing for Indian Riders

Merida mountain bikes use seat tube length or S/M/L sizing. Indian riders tend to run shorter torsos relative to leg length — if you are between sizes, consider sizing down for tighter trail handling or up for all-day comfort on longer rides. Measure your inseam carefully and cross-reference Merida's geometry chart. A professional bike fit after purchase is strongly recommended.

Compatibility Notes

The Big Nine TR 5000 ships as a complete, ready-to-ride bicycle. Pedals are not included — choose clipless or flat pedals based on your preference and trail style. Heavy-duty brakes are spec'd from the factory. First-service inspection after the initial 100 km is recommended; annual service maintains warranty validity and component longevity.

Pairs Well With

Complete your trail setup with a well-fitted mountain bike helmet, tubeless-ready tyres suited to Indian trail surfaces, clipless or flat MTB pedals matched to your footwear, a hydration pack for long days on Coorg or Ooty trails, and a quality multi-tool for trailside repairs.
