Bx218r 10x141mm Quick Release DISC Brake Rear Hub

The Bitex BX218r is a 10x141mm quick-release disc brake rear hub built for riders who want precision-engineered internals without the weight penalty of lesser components. Designed for road, gravel, and hybrid builds, it pairs reliable disc brake compatibility with smooth bearing action — qualities that matter on India's mixed road surfaces from Pune expressways to Coorg forest trails.

Use Cases

Daily training. Reliable use across Indian training conditions — heat, humidity, and rough tarmac.

Race day. Performance-grade construction for competitive efforts.

Long rides. Built for full-day rides across Western Ghats, Sahyadri, or Nilgiri climbs.

Our Take

Bitex has earned a strong reputation among custom wheel builders for consistent quality and well-toleranced internals. The BX218r's 10x141mm quick-release format suits a wide range of older disc-brake road and gravel frames still common across India. In 35°C+ riding conditions in Chennai or Hyderabad, where bearing heat matters, precision hub construction pays dividends over budget alternatives. A compelling choice for a hand-built wheel project.

Sizing for Indian Riders

This hub uses a 10x141mm quick-release axle standard — confirm your frame's rear dropout spacing before ordering, as 135mm QR frames are not directly compatible. Disc brake interface must also match your rotor standard (Centerlock or 6-bolt). Verify cassette body type — Shimano HG, SRAM XD, or XDR — before choosing a matching freehub body.

Compatibility Notes

The BX218r is a disc-specific rear hub — it will not work with rim brake frames. Axle spacing is 141mm QR; verify your frame accepts this dimension. Check rotor mounting standard before purchasing a disc rotor. Cassette compatibility depends on the freehub body fitted. Service intervals should follow Bitex's published guidelines for bearing maintenance.

Pairs Well With

Build this hub into a complete custom wheelset by pairing it with a quality double-walled rim, stainless steel spokes and brass nipples, a matching disc rotor, and a compatible cassette. A spoke tension meter and torque wrench are recommended for proper lacing and installation.
