Brake 31 Strands Slick Stainless Inner Cable for Road

A brake inner cable is one of the most overlooked components on a road bike, yet it directly determines how confidently you can stop on a rain-slicked Pune bypass or a fast Lonavala descent. The Alligator Brake 31 Strands Slick Stainless Inner Cable for Road uses a high-strand-count stainless construction to deliver smooth, consistent lever feel and reliable stopping power across Indian riding conditions. Cobbled Climbs is the exclusive Indian distributor for Campagnolo in India.

Use Cases

Daily training. Reliable use across Indian training conditions — heat, humidity, and rough tarmac.

Race day. Performance-grade construction for competitive efforts.

Long rides. Built for full-day rides across Western Ghats, Sahyadri, or Nilgiri climbs.

Our Take

Thirty-one strands of slick stainless steel means this cable compresses less under load, translating more of your lever input into actual braking force. For riders in Chennai or Hyderabad dealing with year-round heat and humidity, stainless resists corrosion better than standard galvanised cables. On Western Ghats descents where sustained braking is unavoidable, a fresh, high-quality inner cable makes modulation noticeably more precise. At Rs. 290, it is one of the smartest low-cost upgrades you can make to an older road groupset.

Sizing for Indian Riders

Inner brake cables for road bikes are a near-universal fit across drop-bar levers, but confirm your lever uses a standard barrel-end nipple rather than a campagnolo-specific inline nipple before ordering. Cable length is generous and can be cut to suit any frame size. This is a cable, not a clothing item, so no body-measurement sizing applies — compatibility with your specific lever model matters most.

Compatibility Notes

Designed for road bike rim brake systems including dual-pivot callipers and cantilever brakes that use a standard barrel-end nipple. Not intended for hydraulic disc brake systems. Works with Shimano, SRAM, and most road-compatible levers. Route through quality lined cable housing for best feel; replace housing simultaneously when fitting a new inner cable for optimal performance.

Pairs Well With

Pair with fresh brake cable outer housing for a complete cable refresh, quality brake pads matched to your rim surface (alloy or carbon), bar tape to finish the cockpit service, and a cable cutter tool for a clean installation. Available at Cobbled Climbs with free delivery on orders above Rs. 2,500.
