Brake Shoe Replacement for Carbon RIM

Carbon rim brake pads demand a specific compound that manages heat without damaging expensive carbon fibre. The Alligator Brake Shoe Replacement for Carbon RIM is purpose-built for carbon wheels, offering consistent stopping power on Ghat descents, monsoon-wet roads, and the demanding heat of riding through Pune, Chennai, or Hyderabad summers.

Use Cases

Daily training. Stiff sole and breathable upper for repeated training in Indian heat and humidity.

Race day. Power transfer and snug retention for competitive efforts.

Indoor training. Compatible with indoor trainer cleats for structured Zwift, TrainerRoad, or Wahoo SYSTM workouts.

Our Take

For riders running carbon wheelsets on Indian roads, pad compound choice is not optional — it is critical. Carbon rims heat quickly under sustained braking on Lonavala or Khandala descents, and the wrong pad will damage your rim irreversibly. Alligator's carbon-specific compound gives riders on carbon wheels a dependable, heat-aware option at an accessible price point. At Rs. 329, it's a small investment protecting a far larger one.

Sizing for Indian Riders

These pads fit standard rim brake calipers (caliper and cantilever types). Before ordering, confirm your brake caliper accepts standard brake shoe cartridges. Carbon rim pads are not interchangeable with alloy-rim pads — using the wrong compound risks rim failure. Reach length and caliper width are standard across most road and cyclocross groupsets, but verify your specific caliper brand's compatibility.

Compatibility Notes

Designed exclusively for carbon fibre rims — do not use on alloy rims, as the compound and surface interaction differs significantly. Works with standard cartridge-style rim brake calipers. In monsoon conditions, expect slightly longer stopping distances; allow for this during Ghat rides. Replace pads at first sign of glazing or embedded grit, which is common on Indian road surfaces.

Pairs Well With

Complete your rim brake setup with fresh brake cables and housing for crisp lever feel, carbon-safe rim tape, a brake alignment tool for precise pad-to-rim contact, and a torque wrench for safe caliper bolt settings. Brake cables and lubricant are practical additions for post-monsoon servicing.
