Cambium C17 Special Saddle

The Brooks Cambium C17 Special Saddle sits at the intersection of traditional craft and modern materials. Built for riders who spend real hours in the saddle — on Mumbai coastal paths, Pune weekend climbs, or Ooty switchbacks — the Cambium line replaces leather with a vulcanised natural rubber top that flexes with your body rather than against it, offering day-one comfort without a prolonged break-in period.

Use Cases

Daily training. All-day comfort across 2-3 hour training rides in Indian conditions.

Race day. Race-cut profile with cutout for time-trial and aggressive fit positions.

Long endurance rides. Pressure-relief construction for rides exceeding four hours.

Our Take

For Indian riders contending with 35°C+ temperatures on longer routes — think Lonavala climbs or Delhi-Agra highway runs — the Cambium C17's rubber top surface breathes meaningfully better than synthetic foam-and-shell alternatives. The C17 sits in a practical middle ground: wide enough for endurance riding, not so padded that it compresses into discomfort after hour three. This is a saddle selected for Indian conditions based on material performance and rider feedback, not marketing claims.

Sizing for Indian Riders

The C17 designation refers to the saddle's width at the rear — suited to riders with a moderate sit-bone measurement. Measure your sit-bones at home using the cardboard method and add approximately 25mm. Indian riders typically fit between 130–155mm saddle widths. If you ride in an aggressive forward position on hot days, the narrower nose of the C17 reduces inner-thigh chafing during Pune or Hyderabad summer rides.

Compatibility Notes

The Cambium C17 Special fits standard seatpost rail clamps. Confirm your seatpost accepts the rail format before ordering. Match your seatpost diameter to your frame — common sizes are 27.2mm, 30.9mm, and 31.6mm. For carbon rail variants, use a carbon-compatible clamp with correct torque settings. The rubber top surface requires no conditioning oils unlike Brooks leather saddles — wipe clean with a damp cloth after monsoon rides.

Pairs Well With

Complete your comfort setup with padded bib shorts for long-distance rides, a quality seatpost with vibration-damping properties for rougher Indian road surfaces, chamois cream for hot-weather rides above 35°C, and a lightweight saddle bag for carrying essentials on Coorg or Western Ghats rides.
