Chainwheel Nut Installtion Tool

The IceToolz Chainwheel Nut Installation Tool is a dedicated workshop tool designed to correctly install chainwheel nuts — the small fasteners that secure chainrings to your crank spider. A proper installation tool prevents rounded fasteners, cross-threading, and uneven chainring seating, making it an essential addition to any home workshop or bike shop servicing cranksets regularly. Cobbled Climbs is the authorised retailer for Time in India.

Use Cases

Daily training. Durable rim and reliable hub bearings for repeat training use.

Race day. Aerodynamic depth and weight-optimised construction for competitive efforts.

All-rounder. Versatile depth and width for road, gravel, or all-road riding.

Our Take

At Rs. 490, this is an easy call for any Indian rider who does their own maintenance. Chainring bolts are notoriously easy to strip with improvised tools, especially when hands are sweaty after a Lonavala climb or gritty post-monsoon Mumbai commute. The IceToolz tool gives you the correct engagement every time, protecting far more expensive cranksets and chainrings from damage. A small investment that prevents a costly mistake.

Sizing for Indian Riders

This is a workshop tool, not a wearable — sizing does not apply. However, confirm your chainwheel nut type before purchasing. Most road and MTB cranksets use standard chainring bolt formats, but some proprietary crank systems differ. Check your crank manufacturer's specifications or bring a sample nut to cross-reference before ordering.

Compatibility Notes

Designed for standard chainwheel nut formats found on the majority of road and MTB cranksets. Works with single, double, and triple chainring setups using conventional bolt-circle configurations. Not intended for press-fit or direct-mount chainring systems without separate bolts. Store in a dry toolbox — Mumbai and Chennai humidity can cause tool steel to surface-rust if left exposed.

Pairs Well With

Build a capable home workshop around this tool by adding a quality torque wrench for precise bolt tightening, a bottom bracket tool suited to your crank standard, a chain wear checker for routine drivetrain monitoring, and a good all-conditions chain lubricant for Indian riding year-round.
