Description
The Northwave Corsair MTB Cycling Shoes are built for riders who need reliable grip, walkability, and efficient power transfer on technical trails and gravel roads. Whether you're navigating the rocky descents around Coorg, grinding up forest tracks near Ooty, or commuting to a weekend ride in Pune, the Corsair is designed to perform where the trail surface demands as much from your footwear as your legs.
Use Cases
Daily training. Stiff sole and breathable upper for repeated training in Indian heat and humidity.
Race day. Power transfer and snug retention for competitive efforts.
Indoor training. Compatible with indoor trainer cleats for structured Zwift, TrainerRoad, or Wahoo SYSTM workouts.
Our Take
MTB shoes live a harder life than road shoes — they walk, clip in, and sometimes wade through puddles. For Indian riders tackling monsoon-soaked trails in the Western Ghats or dry, dusty routes around Hyderabad, the Corsair's stiff sole delivers meaningful power transfer while the recessed cleat position makes off-bike sections far less awkward. The ventilation design is particularly welcome in India's 38°C+ conditions, where heat build-up inside a shoe can turn a good climb into a painful one.
Sizing for Indian Riders
Northwave shoes generally run true to EU sizing. However, Indian riders — especially those from Chennai, Kolkata, or Mumbai who tend to have wider forefeet — should consider going half a size up. Always try the shoes with your actual cycling socks. Heel slip means too large; toe pinch means too small. Wider aftermarket insoles can also help fill volume if needed.
Compatibility Notes
The Corsair uses a 2-bolt SPD-compatible cleat pattern, pairing with most MTB and gravel pedals. Cleats are sold separately — confirm your pedal system before ordering. Third-party insoles fit without modification. Closure dials, if BOA-equipped, are user-replaceable through the BOA warranty programme. Clean mud and grit from the sole channels after each trail ride to maintain cleat engagement.
Pairs Well With
For a complete trail setup, consider pairing the Corsair with MTB clipless pedals, moisture-wicking cycling socks suited for warm Indian conditions, a hydration pack for longer off-road rides, and mtb-specific gloves for technical trail control.
