Cougar Full Internal 8 Degree Stem

A stem is one of the most position-critical components on any road bike. The Controltech Cougar Full Internal 8 Degree Stem offers clean internal cable routing and an 8-degree rise angle that suits a wide range of riding positions — from aggressive race geometry to endurance-oriented setups popular on long Indian highway rides and mountain passes alike.

Use Cases

Daily training. Reliable construction for repeat use.

Race day. Lightweight, stiff design for power transfer and aerodynamics.

Fit adjustment. Right stem length critical for comfortable bike fit.

Our Take

For riders tackling the Pune–Lonavala climb, the Coorg estate roads, or the daily grind through Hyderabad and Delhi traffic, getting your reach and stack height right is non-negotiable. The Cougar's internal cable routing keeps the cockpit tidy and reduces cable wear from road grime and monsoon mud. At Rs. 4,699, this aluminium stem delivers genuine performance value without asking you to compromise on quality or finish.

Sizing for Indian Riders

The 8-degree angle works well for riders transitioning from flat-bar bikes to drop-bar road setups, or anyone seeking a slightly more upright position in India's heat. If you're riding in 35°C+ conditions across Chennai or Ahmedabad, a less aggressive stack often means better breathing and longer comfortable hours in the saddle. Confirm your steerer diameter and desired length before ordering.

Compatibility Notes

The Cougar is designed for standard 1-1/8 inch threadless steerers and uses a 31.8mm handlebar clamp — compatible with the vast majority of road and gravel handlebars. Internal routing channels require cable ports on your frame's headtube area; verify compatibility with your fork and frame before purchase. Follow manufacturer torque specs during installation.

Pairs Well With

Complete your cockpit upgrade by pairing this stem with a quality aluminium or carbon drop handlebar, fresh bar tape suited to humid Indian riding conditions, a threadless headset spacer kit to fine-tune stack height, and a calibrated torque wrench for safe installation.
