Deore XT 11 Speed CS-M8000 HG CASSETTE

The Shimano Deore XT CS-M8000 is an 11-speed HG cassette built for riders who demand reliable, precise shifting across Indian terrain — from Pune's training loops and Delhi's dusty roads to the punishing gradients of Lonavala, Khandala, and Coorg. Dust, humidity, and monsoon grime are facts of life here, and this cassette is engineered to keep performing through all of it.

Use Cases

Climbing setups. Wide-range cassettes for steep Western Ghats, Lavasa, and Nilgiris climbs.

Flat-terrain training. Tight-ratio cassettes for criterium and flat-road training in cities like Chennai and Ahmedabad.

All-rounder. Mid-range cassettes for rides combining flats and climbs.

Our Take

The CS-M8000 sits in Shimano's sweet spot — serious performance without full XTR pricing. For Indian riders grinding Western Ghats climbs or covering 200km-plus endurance routes, the wide gear range and precise indexing make a tangible difference. Shimano's HyperGlide tooth profiling delivers smooth, confident shifts even under load. At Rs. 8,550 with free delivery above Rs. 2,500, this is a smart upgrade over entry-level cassettes.

Sizing for Indian Riders

This is not a clothing size question — cassette fit is about drivetrain compatibility. The CS-M8000 is an 11-speed cassette, so your rear derailleur, shifter, and chain must all be 11-speed. It mounts on standard Shimano HG freehub bodies. Riders upgrading from 10-speed will need a new chain and likely a new rear derailleur. Verify your freehub type before ordering.

Compatibility Notes

The CS-M8000 is compatible with Shimano 11-speed HG freehub bodies and works with Deore XT, SLX, and Ultegra 11-speed groupsets. Pair with an 11-speed chain. Replace the chain at 0.5–0.75% wear using a chain checker — a worn chain will prematurely eat into cassette teeth, especially in monsoon conditions where grit accelerates wear. Clean and lubricate weekly during monsoon season.

Pairs Well With

Complete your drivetrain with an 11-speed chain suited to Indian riding conditions, a quality chain wear checker, wet-condition and dry chain lubricants for year-round use, and a cassette lockring tool for home servicing. A chain cleaning kit is also worth adding to your order.
