Exar PRO Carbon RIM Brake Wheelset

Carbon rim brake wheelsets occupy a precise niche in 2024: serious performance hardware for riders on older rim brake frames who refuse to compromise on speed. The Magene Exar PRO Carbon RIM Brake Wheelset brings carbon construction and tubeless compatibility to riders in Pune, Delhi, Chennai, and beyond who train hard on expressways and tackle weekend climbs through the Western Ghats or Nilgiris.

Use Cases

Daily training. Durable rim and reliable hub bearings for repeat training use.

Race day. Aerodynamic depth and weight-optimised construction for competitive efforts.

All-rounder. Versatile depth and width for road, gravel, or all-road riding.

Our Take

For Indian riders still running rim brake groupsets — common on many well-specced older road bikes across Hyderabad and Ahmedabad — this wheelset is one of the most meaningful upgrades available. Carbon construction keeps weight in check on Ghat climbs where every gram at the rim is felt, while the tubeless-ready design handles the tyre pressure flexibility that rough Indian road surfaces genuinely demand. At Rs. 75,900, this is a serious performance investment with a clear payoff.

Sizing for Indian Riders

Wheelsets are not sized like clothing but compatibility is equally critical. Confirm your frame uses a quick-release rear axle with 130mm spacing — standard on most rim brake road frames. Verify your existing rim brake caliper reach clears the carbon rim depth. In India's 35°C+ summer heat, always use carbon-specific brake pads; standard alloy pads will damage the rim surface immediately.

Compatibility Notes

These wheels are rim brake specific — they are not compatible with disc brake frames. Confirm QR 130mm rear spacing on your road frame. Use only carbon-specific brake pad compounds; never alloy pads on carbon rims. Tubeless setup requires tubeless-compatible tyres, sealant, and valves — none are included. Check rim width against your frame's maximum tyre clearance before ordering.

Pairs Well With

Complete the build with carbon-specific brake pads (essential, non-negotiable), a quality tubeless tyre suited to the rim's internal width, tubeless sealant and valve kit, and a calibrated torque wrench for safe hub and skewer installation. Each of these categories is stocked at Cobbled Climbs.
