Description

The ESI Grips FIT CR Bicycle Grips bring silicone grip technology to riders who want confident handlebar control through long climbs, rough patches, and sweaty summer rides. Whether you're navigating the broken tarmac of Pune's outskirts or grinding up the Western Ghats, these grips offer a secure, comfortable hold that synthetic rubber simply cannot match.

Our Take

Indian riding conditions are punishing — heat above 35°C, monsoon humidity, and road surfaces that vibrate your hands numb within an hour. The ESI Grips FIT CR addresses all three. The silicone compound absorbs vibration effectively and stays tacky even when your palms are soaked through. For riders in Chennai, Hyderabad, or anywhere the mercury refuses to drop, this is one of those small upgrades that genuinely changes how long you can stay on the bike comfortably.

Sizing for Indian Riders

ESI Grips are universally sized for standard 22.2mm handlebar ends, which suits the vast majority of MTB and flat-bar bikes sold in India. The FIT CR has a slimmer diameter profile than the chunky Chunky model, making it well suited to riders with average to smaller hand sizes — common across Indian cyclists. Check your bar clamp area is clear before installation.

Compatibility Notes

Designed for standard 22.2mm mountain bike and flat-bar handlebar ends. Compatible with most MTB, gravel flat-bar, and hybrid setups. No clamp rings are required — the silicone material stretches and locks into place. Clean bars with isopropyl alcohol before fitting for a secure bond. Not intended for drop-bar or road bike configurations.

Pairs Well With

Complete your cockpit with a quality flat-bar handlebar, ergonomic bar ends for long-distance comfort, a reliable set of lock-on grip tools, or a lightweight bar bag for bikepacking through Coorg or Ooty. Matching handlebar tape accessories are also worth considering if you run multiple bike setups.

Details

The ESI Grips FIT CR Handlebar Grips are constructed from a proprietary silicone compound that provides vibration damping and reliable grip in wet or dry conditions. The FIT CR features a slim diameter profile suited to average and smaller hand sizes. No clamp rings are needed — the silicone material self-locks onto standard 22.2mm handlebar ends. Available in multiple colorways to suit different bike builds and rider preferences.

Fitting

The FIT CR grips fit standard 22.2mm flat handlebar ends, which are universal across MTB, hybrid, and flat-bar gravel bikes. The slim-profile diameter makes these grips a strong choice for riders with average or smaller hands, which is a common fit across the Indian cycling community. If you prefer a thicker feel underhand, ESI's Chunky or Extra Chunky models offer more material. No sizing conversion is required — one size fits standard bars.

The Story Behind The Brand

ESI Grips is an American brand that pioneered the use of silicone foam for bicycle handlebar grips. Known for their lightweight construction and vibration-absorbing properties, ESI grips have earned a loyal following among mountain bikers, gravel riders, and commuters who prioritise comfort over long distances.
