Freewheel Turner

A freewheel turner is one of those tools you never think about until you desperately need it. The Icetoolz Freewheel Turner is a dedicated workshop and home-mechanic tool for removing and installing threaded freewheels — a common drivetrain component on single-speed bikes, entry-level geared bikes, and older setups still widely ridden across India from Delhi to Chennai.

Use Cases

Daily training. Durable rim and reliable hub bearings for repeat training use.

Race day. Aerodynamic depth and weight-optimised construction for competitive efforts.

All-rounder. Versatile depth and width for road, gravel, or all-road riding.

Our Take

Indian cycling culture spans everything from single-speed commuters in Kolkata to geared tourers tackling the Ooty ghats, and a surprising number of these bikes run threaded freewheels. The IceToolz Freewheel Turner handles this specific job with the precision you expect from a dedicated tool rather than an improvised workaround. At Rs. 890, it belongs in every home workshop — far cheaper than a bike shop visit for what is a straightforward removal job.

Sizing for Indian Riders

This is a workshop tool, not an apparel item, so sizing does not apply in the traditional sense. However, verify that your freewheel's spline pattern matches the tool's interface before ordering. Most standard threaded freewheels from common brands use a compatible spline count, but if you ride an older or less common freewheel, check the specification against your component before purchase.

Compatibility Notes

The IceToolz Freewheel Turner is designed for threaded freewheel removal and installation — it is not a cassette lockring tool. Confirm whether your rear wheel runs a freewheel or a freehub cassette before ordering, as these require different tools entirely. Pair with a chain whip for easier removal under resistance. Works with a standard workshop vice or adjustable spanner for use.

Pairs Well With

For a complete drivetrain service kit, consider pairing this with a chain whip, a cassette lockring tool (for freehub-equipped bikes), a quality chain wear indicator, and a workshop stand. Having the right tools for both freewheel and cassette systems keeps any bike in reliable running order.
