Description

Inner gear cables are the unsung workhorses of any drivetrain. In India's demanding conditions — monsoon humidity, dust from Rajasthan highways, and the grit of Pune's back roads — even small cable quality differences show up quickly as sluggish shifts or fraying strands. The Alligator Galvanized Gear Inner Cable box of 100 gives workshops, clubs, and fleet managers a cost-effective, reliable supply of precision-grade shift cables for SRAM and Shimano systems.

Use Cases

Daily training. Reliable use across Indian training conditions — heat, humidity, and rough tarmac.

Race day. Performance-grade construction for competitive efforts.

Long rides. Built for full-day rides across Western Ghats, Sahyadri, or Nilgiri climbs.

Our Take

For bike shops in Chennai, Hyderabad, or Delhi stocking up for the season, or a club manager maintaining a fleet ahead of Lonavala weekend rides, this 100-cable box is straightforward value. Galvanised construction resists corrosion meaningfully in humid coastal cities and during monsoon months when bare steel cables degrade fast. Shifting feel stays precise over the cable's service life — no gradual creep in indexing that forces mid-ride adjustments on a Ghats climb.

Sizing for Indian Riders

These cables fit SRAM and Shimano mechanical shifters across road and MTB platforms. Before ordering, confirm your groupset's speed count and shifter pull ratio. SRAM and Shimano use different cable pull ratios on some speed configurations, so cross-check your shifter model. Cable length is generous and can be trimmed to fit most frame geometries from compact road bikes to full-suspension MTB builds.

Compatibility Notes

Compatible with SRAM and Shimano mechanical derailleur systems. Not intended for electronic (Di2, AXS, EPS) drivetrains, which use electrical uses rather than inner cables. Works with standard cable housing across road, gravel, and MTB setups. After installation, bed cables in with a few full-shift cycles, then re-index before riding. Replace cables when fraying or kinking is noticed — do not wait for a full break.

Pairs Well With

Complete a cable service with gear cable outer housing, end caps and cable ferrules, a quality wet-condition chain lubricant suited to monsoon riding, and a cable cutter for clean crimps. Stocking these together ensures a full workshop-ready kit for every service interval.

Fitting

These are inner gear cables, not sized by rider body measurements. Compatibility depends on your drivetrain: confirm SRAM or Shimano mechanical shifters are fitted, and verify speed count (the cables suit a wide range of modern groupset configurations). Cable length can be trimmed at installation to suit your frame's routing. If you run an internally routed frame — common on newer bikes ridden in Bengaluru and Delhi club scenes — measure your routing length before cutting. Contact Cobbled Climbs for guidance on specific groupset compatibility.

The Story Behind The Brand

Alligator has been manufacturing precision cycling cables and housing since 1983, building a reputation among workshop mechanics worldwide for consistent quality and wide drivetrain compatibility.
