Gear Cable Housing End Caps

Gear cable housing end caps are small but critical finishing components that protect cable housing ends from fraying, keep dirt and moisture out of shift cable runs, and ensure crisp, consistent gear changes ride after ride. Alligator's end caps are precision-made to fit standard gear cable housing diameters and are a smart upgrade or replacement part for any drivetrain service. Cobbled Climbs is the exclusive Indian distributor for Campagnolo in India.

Use Cases

Under-helmet sweat management. Absorbs forehead sweat in 35°C+ heat across Mumbai, Pune, and Chennai conditions.

Sun protection. Peak shields the eyes and forehead from direct sun on long Indian summer rides.

Style and finish. Completes a coordinated kit for daily rides and group rides.

Our Take

In India's conditions — monsoon humidity in Kolkata, dusty roads around Ahmedabad, or the grit-laden Ghat climbs near Lonavala — unprotected cable housing ends corrode and fray faster than you'd expect. Alligator's end caps seal the housing cleanly, preserving shift quality over thousands of kilometres. At this price point, replacing worn end caps during a cable service is one of the best-value drivetrain maintenance steps you can take.

Sizing for Indian Riders

Alligator gear cable housing end caps are designed to fit standard gear cable housing outer diameters. Before ordering, confirm your housing outer diameter — most derailleur cable housing runs either 4mm or 5mm. Sizing is universal across most road, gravel, and MTB drivetrains. If you're unsure, check your existing housing or consult a mechanic at your local bike shop.

Compatibility Notes

Compatible with standard gear cable housing used across Shimano, SRAM, and Campagnolo drivetrains. Ensure end cap inner diameter matches your housing outer diameter. Not intended for brake cable housing. Check that caps seat fully before routing cables — a loose cap will allow moisture ingress and accelerate housing corrosion.

Pairs Well With

Complete your drivetrain cable service with fresh inner gear cables, quality cable housing by the metre, cable end ferrules, and cable end crimps. A good cable cutter ensures clean housing cuts and proper end cap seating. Browse all cable and drivetrain accessories at Cobbled Climbs.
