Sintered Hayes El Camino Disc Brake Pads

The Kool-Stop KS-D230S is a sintered disc brake pad engineered for Hayes El Camino systems, built to handle extreme conditions where standard pads fail. With a copper-plated backing plate and sintered friction compound, these pads deliver consistent, reliable stopping power whether you're descending technical singletrack in Coorg or charging down the ghats outside Pune.

Our Take

India's riding conditions are unforgiving — gritty roads, unpredictable monsoon downpours, and punishing descents on the Western Ghats demand a pad that won't fade when it matters most. The KS-D230S sintered compound grips hard even when soaked, making it a sensible choice for riders around Lonavala, Khandala, and Ooty who push their Hayes brakes into sustained braking zones. The copper-plated backing plate resists heat transfer and reduces noise, two qualities Indian riders will appreciate in humid, high-dust conditions.

Sizing for Indian Riders

Brake pads are not sized to body dimensions but must match your specific brake calliper. Confirm your brake system is Hayes El Camino before ordering — this pad is not a universal fit. Riders running disc setups in Chennai or Hyderabad should double-check calliper compatibility, as mixing pad compounds across different Hayes generations can affect feel and wear rate.

Compatibility Notes

Designed specifically for Hayes El Camino disc brake callipers. Shares the same fitment range as the Kool-Stop D230 pad but adds sintered compound and the copper-plated backing plate for extreme use. Not compatible with other brake calliper brands. Clean rotors thoroughly before installation and bed in pads carefully to avoid glazing.

Pairs Well With

Complete your braking setup with compatible disc brake rotors, brake bleed kits for Hayes hydraulic systems, and rotor cleaning spray to maintain pad performance through dusty Indian summers and monsoon seasons. Quality brake cables or hydraulic hose fittings round out a reliable braking system.
