Sintered Avid Juicy 7/5 Disc Brake Pads

The Kool-Stop KS-D270S is a sintered disc brake pad designed for riders who demand reliable stopping power in demanding conditions. Built with a copper-plated backing plate and a sintered compound, these pads are engineered for high-stress situations where heat and trail grime push standard pads to their limits — making them a strong choice for gravity riding and long descents.

Our Take

India's mountain terrain — from the rocky descents around Manali to the long switchbacks of Coorg and Ooty — demands brake pads that don't fade under sustained pressure. The KS-D270S sintered compound handles heat build-up well and resists the gritty mud common during monsoon riding. If you run Avid Juicy 7 or Juicy 5 brakes and ride anything beyond flat tarmac, these pads deserve a place in your maintenance kit.

Sizing for Indian Riders

Brake pads are pad-shape specific, not rider-size specific. The KS-D270S is designed to fit Avid Juicy 7 and Juicy 5 callipers — verify your calliper model before ordering. No heat or body-size consideration applies here, though riders in high-humidity coastal cities like Chennai or Kolkata should inspect pad wear more frequently due to added corrosion exposure.

Compatibility Notes

These pads are compatible with Avid Juicy 7 and Juicy 5 hydraulic disc brake callipers. The spring is included. The sintered compound suits wet, muddy, and high-heat conditions but may generate slightly more noise than organic pads on dry tarmac. Replace in pairs for consistent braking balance.

Pairs Well With

Complete your braking setup with hydraulic brake fluid for Avid systems, quality brake rotors sized for your fork and frame, a bleed kit for Avid hydraulics, and bar-end or inline brake cable accessories for clean cockpit routing.
