Electric Compound Shimano Zee/Saint Disc Brake Pads

The Kool-Stop KS-D640E is a disc brake pad engineered for Shimano Zee and Saint hydraulic disc brake systems, using Kool-Stop's E Compound formulation with an integrated spring. Designed for riders who push their limits on long descents and technical terrain, these pads offer consistent modulation and reliable stopping power whether you're navigating the switchbacks of Coorg or bombing down the Ghats.

Our Take

India's riding conditions demand brakes that don't fade under sustained pressure — think long descents into Khandala or the relentless ghat roads around Ooty where heat builds quickly in brake systems. The E Compound formulation on the KS-D640E is selected for its ability to maintain feel and modulation across varying temperatures. For riders running Shimano Zee or Saint groupsets, this is a reliable, cost-effective replacement that doesn't compromise stopping confidence on rough Indian tarmac or loose trail surfaces.

Sizing for Indian Riders

Brake pads are a universal fit component — sizing here refers to compatibility rather than body dimensions. The KS-D640E is designed specifically for Shimano Zee and Saint callipers. Before ordering, confirm your calliper model. Riders upgrading from other Shimano groupsets should verify that their brake calliper matches the Zee or Saint platform to ensure correct fitment and spring engagement.

Compatibility Notes

The KS-D640E fits Shimano Zee and Saint hydraulic disc brake callipers. The integrated spring aids consistent pad retraction and reduces drag. E Compound pads work with both metallic and standard rotors. Check rotor condition before fitting — glazed or worn rotors will reduce the performance of even premium pads. Bed in properly for best results.

Pairs Well With

Complete your brake setup with Shimano Zee or Saint brake levers and callipers, quality disc brake rotors in the appropriate diameter for your frame, hydraulic brake hose and bleed kits for maintenance, and bar-mounted accessories for a full cockpit refresh.
