Mallet 2 Clipless Pedal

The Crank Brothers Mallet 2 is a clipless pedal built for riders who want confident engagement and walkability in a single package. Whether you're grinding up the Western Ghats on gravel or threading through Pune's morning traffic on a hybrid, the Mallet 2's dual-sided entry and recessed cleat design make clipping in and walking off-bike equally straightforward. Cobbled Climbs is the authorised retailer for Time in India.

Use Cases

Daily training. Reliable cleat retention and bearing durability for repeat training use.

Race day. Lightweight design and clean release for competitive efforts.

Indoor training. Smooth float and compatibility with indoor trainer setups.

Our Take

For Indian riders tackling mixed terrain — think Coorg's coffee-estate tracks, Lonavala's monsoon-slicked descents, or Delhi's potholed city circuits — the Mallet 2's combination of clipless efficiency and mud-shedding platform strikes a genuinely practical balance. The recessed cleat means you can walk on temple steps or roadside dhabas without slipping. At Rs. 9,000, it's a considered upgrade for anyone moving from flat pedals to clipless for the first time, or stepping up from entry-level systems.

Sizing for Indian Riders

Pedals are one-size hardware, but cleat fit matters greatly. The Mallet 2 uses the Crank Brothers two-bolt cleat system, so confirm your cycling shoes have a two-bolt (SPD-compatible) sole pattern before ordering. In India's heat — Chennai summers exceed 38°C — shoes swell slightly; choose shoes with room to spare. Float-wise, newer riders benefit from more lateral movement to protect knees on long rides.

Compatibility Notes

The Mallet 2 uses the standard 9/16-inch pedal thread, fitting virtually all crank arms. It is compatible with the Crank Brothers two-bolt cleat system — not SPD-SL or Look three-bolt soles. Cleats are typically included. Clean the cleat retention mechanism periodically, especially after monsoon rides or dusty Rajasthan highways, to maintain reliable engagement.

Pairs Well With

Complete your drivetrain contact points with two-bolt compatible cycling shoes (MTB or gravel style), a set of replacement Crank Brothers cleats, a quality pedal wrench for home servicing, and waterproof cycling socks for monsoon training rides across Hyderabad or Kolkata.
