Metron 81 SL Wheelset

The Vision Metron 81 SL Wheelset is a deep-section carbon road wheelset built for riders who want genuine aerodynamic performance without compromising reliability. Whether you are chasing flat-road speed on the Pune–Mumbai Expressway, targeting a timed climb up the Western Ghats, or simply upgrading the weakest link on your road bike, these wheels represent a serious step forward in ride quality and speed.

Use Cases

Daily training. Durable rim and reliable hub bearings for repeat training use.

Race day. Aerodynamic depth and weight-optimised construction for competitive efforts.

All-rounder. Versatile depth and width for road, gravel, or all-road riding.

Our Take

At Rs. 1,65,800, the Metron 81 SL is a premium investment — and it earns that price. The deep 81mm profile pays real dividends above 30 km/h on flat Indian roads, while the precision hub internals keep rolling resistance low even after monsoon-soaked rides around Pune or Chennai. For riders who spend time on smooth expressways and want to feel the difference immediately, wheel upgrades deliver the most noticeable performance shift of any component change.

Sizing for Indian Riders

Wheelset fit involves three checks: frame axle standard (QR or thru-axle), brake type (rim or disc, Centerlock or 6-bolt), and cassette body compatibility (Shimano HG, SRAM XDR, or Campagnolo). The deep 81mm rim profile suits taller riders on larger frames who can handle crosswind exposure — a real consideration on exposed Rajasthan or Deccan plateau roads. Verify maximum tyre clearance before ordering.

Compatibility Notes

Confirm axle standard, brake interface, and cassette body before purchase. Tubeless-ready rims require tubeless-compatible tyres, sealant, and valves — not included. Rim brake versions demand the correct carbon-specific brake pad compound; using alloy pads on carbon rims causes irreversible damage. Check Vision's recommended service intervals for bearing maintenance, particularly after prolonged monsoon riding.

Pairs Well With

Complete your build with high-performance road tyres sized for the internal rim width, a quality tubeless sealant and valve kit, carbon-specific brake pads if running rim brake, and a calibrated torque wrench for safe installation. A power meter pedal set rounds out a race-ready upgrade.
