MKS AR-2 Platform Pedals (Black)

The MKS AR-2 is a flat platform pedal built for riders who prefer direct foot contact over cleat systems. Made from a plastic and metal composite, it suits hybrid and city bikes ridden across India's varied surfaces — from Pune's potholed backroads to smooth Hyderabad cycling tracks. At Rs. 2,699, it delivers reliable everyday performance without fuss. Cobbled Climbs is the authorised retailer for Mks Pedal in India.

Use Cases

Daily training. Reliable cleat retention and bearing durability for repeat training use.

Race day. Lightweight design and clean release for competitive efforts.

Indoor training. Smooth float and compatibility with indoor trainer setups.

Our Take

MKS has been making pedals in Japan for decades, and the AR-2 reflects that no-nonsense engineering philosophy. For Indian riders using hybrid bikes on mixed terrain — think Chennai coastal commutes, Delhi morning rides, or weekend loops around Ahmedabad — this flat platform gives confident foot placement without committing to clipless. The plastic-metal build keeps weight reasonable while handling heat and humidity without warping or seizing.

Sizing for Indian Riders

Platform pedals are size-agnostic in terms of cleat patterns, but platform width matters for foot stability. Riders with wider feet common among Indian cyclists may find the AR-2's flat surface accommodating. Pair with flat-sole shoes for best grip. No European sizing conversion needed — simply verify the standard 9/16-inch axle thread fits your crank arms.

Compatibility Notes

The MKS AR-2 uses a standard 9/16-inch threaded axle compatible with the vast majority of adult bicycle crank arms. Designed for hybrid bikes. No cleats required or included — this is a flat pedal. Material is plastic and metal composite; avoid harsh chemical degreasers near the body. Wipe clean after monsoon rides.

Pairs Well With

Round out your hybrid setup with flat-sole commuter or urban cycling shoes, ergonomic handlebar grips for city riding comfort, a quality mini-pump for Indian road readiness, and a rear rack or saddle bag for daily carry. All available at Cobbled Climbs.
