Monkey Bone 160mm Adapter (is to Pm)

The Rohloff Monkey Bone 160mm Adapter converts an IS (International Standard) brake mount to a Post Mount (PM) interface, allowing you to run a 160mm rotor on frames and forks that would otherwise require a different caliper. It is the kind of small component that makes a significant difference when building or upgrading a bike for the varied road surfaces, steep descents, and monsoon conditions found across India.

Use Cases

Daily training. Reliable use across Indian training conditions — heat, humidity, and rough tarmac.

Race day. Performance-grade construction for competitive efforts.

Long rides. Built for full-day rides across Western Ghats, Sahyadri, or Nilgiri climbs.

Our Take

For riders tackling the Western Ghats, the Lonavala–Khandala descent, or the long switchbacks above Ooty, having the correct brake mount adapter is non-negotiable. The Rohloff Monkey Bone IS-to-PM 160mm Adapter ensures your caliper sits exactly where it should, giving you consistent braking geometry and confident modulation when conditions get wet or demanding. Precision machining at this price point from Rohloff is genuinely good value.

Sizing for Indian Riders

This adapter is specifically dimensioned for a 160mm rotor. Before ordering, confirm your frame or fork uses an IS mount and that your caliper is a Post Mount design. Rotor diameter must match the adapter spec — do not use this with 140mm or 180mm rotors. In India's high-heat summers above 35°C, correct adapter fitment also aids caliper alignment and heat management.

Compatibility Notes

Works with IS-mount frames or forks paired with Post Mount disc brake calipers at 160mm rotor diameter. Not compatible with flat-mount or direct-mount standards. Torque bolts to manufacturer specification — over-tightening can crack the adapter. Check for frame mount thread condition before fitting. Compatible with both mechanical and hydraulic disc caliper types sharing the PM standard.

Pairs Well With

Complete your brake setup by pairing this adapter with a quality 160mm disc rotor, compatible IS or PM disc brake caliper, stainless mounting bolts, and a torque wrench for precise installation. If upgrading hydraulic calipers, a bleed kit and appropriate brake fluid round out the build.
