Montrailer MTB Helmet

Trail riding in India demands a helmet that can handle loose laterite descents in Coorg, punishing climbs above Ooty, and relentless 38°C summer heat on the Pune–Lonavala stretch. The Abus Montrailer MTB Helmet is built for exactly this kind of riding — combining certified safety, a ventilation system designed for hot-weather use, and an adjustable retention fit that keeps the helmet planted when the trail gets rough.

Use Cases

Daily training. Ventilated construction for 35°C+ Pune, Hyderabad, and Chennai training rides.

Race day. Aerodynamic profile and certified safety standards for competitive efforts.

Long endurance rides. Comfort-first padding and adjustable retention for full-day rides.

Our Take

For Indian trail and gravel riders, the Montrailer earns its place through a ventilation system that genuinely shifts air at climbing pace — something you feel acutely on the Western Ghats in May. The extended rear coverage adds meaningful protection on technical descents. At Rs. 10,890, it sits in a category where you are paying for genuine trail-rated design rather than a rebadged road helmet. For riders regularly tackling Khandala or Nandi Hills, that distinction matters.

Sizing for Indian Riders

Measure head circumference at the forehead, just above the eyebrows. Abus generally sizes S=51–55cm, M=55–59cm, L=59–63cm — this listing is available in L. Indian riders frequently find European helmets run slightly narrow; if you are between sizes, size up. In sustained heat, a snug fit that restricts airflow will fatigue you faster than a marginally looser fit that breathes well.

Compatibility Notes

Certified to international safety standards — verify the specific standard (EN 1078 or equivalent) on the box before first use. The integrated visor is compatible with most cycling sunglasses; confirm temple clearance with wider frames. Works with standard helmet-mount lights and cameras. Replace immediately after any significant impact, regardless of visible external damage.

Pairs Well With

Complete your trail kit with MTB-specific cycling gloves for grip on dusty descents, a hydration pack suited to Ghats climbs, trail-rated cycling sunglasses with interchangeable lenses for low-light forest sections, and a compact rear light for visibility on shared roads.
