Pn 4.0

The ISM Pn 4.0 is a performance saddle built around ISM's signature split-nose design, which redistributes pressure away from soft tissue and toward the sit bones. For riders logging serious kilometres on Indian roads — whether on the Pune–Mumbai expressway, the Nilgiri climbs near Ooty, or early-morning Hyderabad training loops — this saddle addresses the comfort equation that no amount of chamois padding can fully compensate for.

Use Cases

Daily training. Reliable use across Indian training conditions — heat, humidity, and rough tarmac.

Race day. Performance-grade construction for competitive efforts.

Long rides. Built for full-day rides across Western Ghats, Sahyadri, or Nilgiri climbs.

Our Take

ISM's nose-free geometry genuinely changes long-ride comfort, and the Pn 4.0 sits at the performance end of their range. Indian summer rides above 35°C add extra pressure to saddle choice: this design's open channel improves airflow and reduces perineal pressure during back-to-back training blocks. Riders preparing for brevets or century rides in Chennai, Pune, or Delhi will find the adjustment period worthwhile — allow five to six rides before forming a verdict.

Sizing for Indian Riders

ISM saddles are measured by nose width, not rear width — a key difference from conventional saddles. Most Indian riders fit comfortably on standard ISM widths, but those with narrower sit-bone measurements may prefer a narrower variant. In India's heat, a synthetic-cover saddle like the Pn 4.0 ventilates better than leather alternatives and resists monsoon moisture effectively.

Compatibility Notes

The ISM Pn 4.0 mounts on standard 7×7mm rail clamp seatposts. Match your seatpost diameter to your frame — common sizes include 27.2mm, 30.9mm, and 31.6mm. For carbon-railed versions, use a carbon-compatible torque setting per the seatpost manufacturer's specification. Fore-aft position adjustment is especially important with ISM's split-nose design; a bike fit is strongly recommended when switching from a conventional saddle.

Pairs Well With

For the best experience on long Indian rides, consider pairing the Pn 4.0 with quality padded bib shorts, a layback or setback seatpost suited to your frame geometry, chamois cream for hot-weather rides, and a lightweight saddle bag to keep your setup clean on Lonavala or Coorg climbs.
