Quasar

The Selle Repente Quasar is a carbon-railed saddle built for riders who refuse to compromise between weight and long-ride comfort. Whether you are grinding up the Western Ghats from Pune to Lonavala or putting in early-morning kilometres through Chennai's humid streets, the Quasar is engineered to stay in place and out of your mind. Cobbled Climbs is the authorised retailer for Selle Italia in India.

Use Cases

Daily training. Reliable use across Indian training conditions — heat, humidity, and rough tarmac.

Race day. Performance-grade construction for competitive efforts.

Long rides. Built for full-day rides across Western Ghats, Sahyadri, or Nilgiri climbs.

Our Take

The Quasar sits in a category where saddle choice is deeply personal, but the carbon construction gives it a clear performance identity. For Indian riders tackling 35°C+ conditions, the shell's breathability and the firm-yet-supportive platform matter enormously on rides beyond three hours. This is not a casual commuter saddle — it rewards a dialled-in position and works best when paired with a proper bike fit session before committing to long distances.

Sizing for Indian Riders

Selle Repente saddles follow European sizing conventions based on sit-bone width. Most Indian riders fall between 130–155mm. To measure, sit on firm cardboard, mark the two dimples, measure centre-to-centre, and add approximately 25mm. In Indian heat, a slightly wider saddle than your minimum sit-bone measurement can reduce pressure hotspots during sweaty summer rides in Hyderabad or Ahmedabad.

Compatibility Notes

The Quasar uses a standard 7×7mm rail clamp system, compatible with the vast majority of seatposts on road and performance bikes. For carbon rails, always use a carbon-compatible seatpost clamp and respect manufacturer torque specifications — over-tightening carbon rails causes irreversible damage. Match your seatpost diameter to your frame (commonly 27.2mm, 30.9mm, or 31.6mm).

Pairs Well With

Get the most from the Quasar by pairing it with quality padded bib shorts for rides in Indian summer heat, a carbon-compatible seatpost, chamois cream for long days in the saddle, and a lightweight saddle bag for carrying essentials on Ooty or Coorg climbs.
