R55c3 Carbon Brake Pads

Carbon rim brakes demand a specific pad compound to perform safely — and the Shimano R55c3 Carbon Brake Pads are purpose-built for exactly that. Designed for carbon rims on 105, Ultegra, and Dura-Ace groupsets, these pads deliver consistent stopping power and controlled modulation across the varied conditions Indian roads throw at you.

Use Cases

Daily training. Reliable use across Indian training conditions — heat, humidity, and rough tarmac.

Race day. Performance-grade construction for competitive efforts.

Long rides. Built for full-day rides across Western Ghats, Sahyadri, or Nilgiri climbs.

Our Take

If you're running carbon wheels and tackling the Western Ghats, Ooty climbs, or Pune–Lonavala Expressway descents, these pads are a non-negotiable upgrade over generic compounds. The R55c3 formula manages heat build-up on long descents and maintains reliable bite even when roads turn wet mid-monsoon. At Rs. 1,230, they're one of the most cost-effective safety upgrades for any carbon-rimmed road bike in India.

Sizing for Indian Riders

These are rim brake pads, not disc pads — confirm your bike uses caliper rim brakes before ordering. The R55c3 fits standard Shimano brake shoe holders compatible with 105, Ultegra, and Dura-Ace calipers. No European-to-Indian sizing conversion applies here, but in 35°C+ heat common across Chennai, Hyderabad, and Delhi, ensure your carbon rim's brake track is clean and free of embedded grit before fitting.

Compatibility Notes

Designed specifically for carbon brake tracks — do not use on alloy rims as the compound will overheat and cause rapid wear to both pad and rim. Compatible with Shimano brake shoe holders for 105, Ultegra, and Dura-Ace rim brake calipers. Check that your existing shoe holder accepts the R55c3 cartridge format before ordering. Replace pads as a pair for balanced braking.

Pairs Well With

Complete your braking setup with fresh Shimano brake cables and housing, quality bar tape to improve control on technical descents, a carbon-safe rim cleaning solvent, and a torque wrench for precise brake caliper installation. All available at Cobbled Climbs.
