Rd-322 Diy Road Brake Shoes

At Rs. 239, the Alligator RD-322 DIY Road Brake Shoes are an accessible, no-fuss upgrade for road cyclists running rim brake calipers. Whether you're tackling the Lonavala climbs, dodging traffic in Pune, or commuting through Chennai's humid streets, reliable stopping power starts with a fresh set of quality brake shoes matched to your rim type.

Use Cases

Daily training. Stiff sole and breathable upper for repeated training in Indian heat and humidity.

Race day. Power transfer and snug retention for competitive efforts.

Indoor training. Compatible with indoor trainer cleats for structured Zwift, TrainerRoad, or Wahoo SYSTM workouts.

Our Take

For riders on alloy-rimmed road bikes, the Alligator RD-322 is a practical, wallet-friendly choice that does exactly what brake shoes should — stop you confidently. Indian roads demand consistent modulation: think sudden auto-rickshaws in Delhi, slick tarmac during Hyderabad monsoons, or steep Khandala descents. At this price point, keeping a spare set on hand is simply smart maintenance. Replace proactively rather than reactively.

Sizing for Indian Riders

These are rim brake shoes designed for standard road caliper brakes — confirm your bike uses a rim brake system before ordering. Sizing is largely universal for road calipers, but verify the shoe holder thread and fixing bolt style matches your caliper. In India's heat, brake compounds can soften slightly; check pad seating after initial rides in 35°C+ conditions.

Compatibility Notes

The RD-322 is designed for road rim brake calipers — not compatible with disc brake systems. Confirm your rim material: these shoes suit alloy rims only; never use standard rubber compound pads on carbon rims as heat buildup can cause catastrophic rim failure. Check fixing thread compatibility with your existing brake shoe holders before fitting.

Pairs Well With

Complete your brake refresh with brake cables and housing, bar tape for renewed grip confidence, a cable cutter and Allen key set for clean DIY installation, and a torque wrench to correctly set caliper bolt tension. A bottle of chain lubricant while you're servicing is always worthwhile.
