Rear Cognition Axle with Bearing

The Zipp Rear Cognition Axle with Bearing is a precision hub component designed to keep your rear wheel spinning smoothly and true. Built around Zipp's Cognition hub technology, this axle-and-bearing assembly is the kind of detail-oriented upgrade that makes a genuine difference on long training days around Pune's ghats or the punishing summer roads of Delhi and Hyderabad.

Use Cases

Daily training. Reliable use across Indian training conditions — heat, humidity, and rough tarmac.

Race day. Performance-grade construction for competitive efforts.

Long rides. Built for full-day rides across Western Ghats, Sahyadri, or Nilgiri climbs.

Our Take

Zipp's Cognition technology is not a cosmetic upgrade — it is an engineered solution aimed at reducing drag and improving bearing longevity. For Indian riders dealing with heat above 35°C, dusty roads in Rajasthan or the humidity of Chennai and Kolkata, a quality axle-and-bearing assembly means fewer surprise failures and more predictable service intervals. If you run Zipp wheels, this is the correct replacement or spare to keep on hand before monsoon season arrives.

Sizing for Indian Riders

Axle sizing is determined by your frame's dropout standard, not rider body size. Before ordering, confirm your rear axle diameter and length (typically thru-axle or quick-release) as specified in your frame's documentation. Zipp components follow international hub standards — check your wheel's hub shell markings or consult Zipp's compatibility guide to ensure a direct fit with your specific wheelset build.

Compatibility Notes

This axle is designed for use with Zipp Cognition rear hubs. Confirm your hub shell model before purchasing. The bearing is matched to Zipp's own tolerance specifications, so substituting third-party bearings is not recommended for long-term reliability. Installation is best handled by a qualified mechanic, particularly in Indian workshop conditions where correct torque application matters for bearing preload and longevity.

Pairs Well With

Complete your wheel-care setup by pairing this axle with quality bearing grease suited to high-heat and wet conditions, a torque wrench for precise installation, a spoke tension tool for routine wheel truing, and a set of tyre levers and puncture repair kit for ride-day readiness.
