Round 104 BCD Shimano MTB Chainring

The Absolute Black Round 104 BCD Shimano MTB Chainring is a precision-machined drivetrain component built for mountain bikers who demand consistent shifting across demanding terrain. Whether you're navigating the rocky trails around Pune, the red-dirt tracks near Hyderabad, or the steep descents of Coorg, this chainring is engineered to hold up where lesser components give out.

Use Cases

Daily training. Durable chain construction for repeat training use.

Race day. Optimised chain for clean shifting and minimal drivetrain friction.

Replacement intervals. Replace at chain stretch to protect cassette and chainring wear.

Our Take

Absolute Black has built a strong reputation for quality chainrings, and this 104 BCD Shimano-compatible option earns its place in any serious MTB build. Indian trail riding — dust, mud, monsoon silt — punishes drivetrains hard. This chainring's precision machining means consistent chain engagement even when conditions get messy, reducing the mid-ride skipping and ghost shifting that plague cheaper alternatives on technical climbs around Lonavala or Ooty.

Sizing for Indian Riders

This is not a size selection — it's a compatibility check. Confirm your crankset uses 104 BCD bolt circle diameter and verify your drivetrain speed (10, 11, or 12-speed). Shimano MTB cranks from recent groupsets are the primary target. If you're running a mixed setup or an older groupset, cross-reference your crank spec before ordering. Chainline matters especially on narrower, trail-specific frames common in Indian MTB builds.

Compatibility Notes

Designed for Shimano MTB cranks with a 104 BCD pattern. Confirm drivetrain speed compatibility (10/11/12-speed) before purchase. Works best with a matched Shimano-compatible chain. Replace your chain at 0.5–0.75% wear using a chain wear checker — running a worn chain prematurely destroys even a quality chainring. Clean regularly during monsoon season and re-lubricate with a wet-condition lube during the rains.

Pairs Well With

Complete your drivetrain upgrade with a quality MTB chain suited to your speed groupset, a reliable chain wear checker tool, a wet-condition chain lubricant for monsoon riding, and a trail-rated cassette matched to your rear derailleur's capacity. All available at Cobbled Climbs.
