Sonic 9 Road Cleats (4 Deg Float)

The Xpedo Sonic 9 Road Cleats with 4-degree float are a well-considered choice for road cyclists who want reliable cleat-in/cleat-out action without sacrificing knee comfort. Designed for 3-bolt road shoe systems, they hit a practical middle ground between the fixed precision racers chase and the forgiving float that longer rides demand. At Rs. 1,650, they offer solid value for Indian road riders. Cobbled Climbs is the authorised retailer for Look in India.

Use Cases

Daily training. Stiff sole and breathable upper for repeated training in Indian heat and humidity.

Race day. Power transfer and snug retention for competitive efforts.

Indoor training. Compatible with indoor trainer cleats for structured Zwift, TrainerRoad, or Wahoo SYSTM workouts.

Our Take

For riders tackling the climbs around Lonavala, Ooty, or the Aravalli foothills near Pune and Delhi, knee health on long ascents matters far more than most people realise. The 4-degree float on the Sonic 9 cleats gives your foot just enough lateral movement to reduce joint strain during extended efforts in India's heat. This is a smart choice for daily training and weekend centuries alike — neither too loose nor too locked-in.

Sizing for Indian Riders

These are 3-bolt road cleats compatible with SPD-SL and Look-style shoe mounts — check your road shoe's sole before ordering. Cleat positioning affects knee tracking significantly; in Indian heat above 35°C, foot swelling is real, so set up with a touch more float if you're riding long in Chennai or Hyderabad summers. First-time clipless riders should start with the full 4-degree float before considering a fixed option.

Compatibility Notes

The Sonic 9 cleats are designed for Xpedo's Sonic 9 road pedal system using the standard 3-bolt mount pattern. They are not compatible with 2-bolt SPD systems or 4-bolt Speedplay mounts. Replace cleats when wear indicators show significant erosion or when engagement feels inconsistent — typically every 10,000–15,000 km depending on road surface and walking frequency.

Pairs Well With

Complete your clipless setup with a pair of Xpedo road pedals, road cycling shoes with a 3-bolt sole, cleat bolts and washers for secure mounting, and a pedal-specific torque wrench for correct installation. A cleat alignment kit is worth adding for riders new to clipless systems.
