Sonic Road Clipless Pedals

Clipless pedals are where your effort meets the road — every watt you produce passes through this connection point. The Xpedo Sonic Road Clipless Pedals combine a carbon construction with precision-engineered engagement to offer road cyclists a performance-focused, durable option at a price well below the flagship European alternatives. Whether you are chasing PRs on the Western Ghats or grinding out early-morning base miles around Pune, this pedal is built to deliver consistent, confident clipping. Cobbled Climbs is the authorised retailer for Time in India.

Use Cases

Daily training. Reliable cleat retention and bearing durability for repeat training use.

Race day. Lightweight design and clean release for competitive efforts.

Indoor training. Smooth float and compatibility with indoor trainer setups.

Our Take

For Indian road cyclists seeking a step up from entry-level clipless pedals, the Xpedo Sonic Road represents genuine value at Rs. 18,990. The carbon body keeps weight honest without the stratospheric price of top-tier competitors, and the engagement feel is crisp enough for spirited riding on Lonavala climbs or the long, straight training roads outside Hyderabad. In 35°C+ summer conditions, the stainless steel internals resist the corrosion that cheaper alloy mechanisms invite over time.

Sizing for Indian Riders

Pedals do not size like shoes, but cleat compatibility is critical. The Sonic Road uses a 3-bolt road cleat pattern, fitting the majority of road cycling shoes sold in India. Riders switching from SPD mountain pedals will need road-specific shoes. In India's humid climate, allow a slightly more open float setting initially to ease knee stress during adaptation — especially through long monsoon-season indoor sessions.

Compatibility Notes

The Xpedo Sonic Road uses a standard 9/16-inch threaded axle, compatible with virtually all modern road crank arms. It is designed for 3-bolt road cleat systems (SPD-SL/Look-style). Not compatible with 2-bolt SPD or 4-bolt Speedplay shoes. Service sealed bearings annually if riding through Indian monsoon conditions. Clean cleat retention mechanisms periodically to clear road grit and dust common on Indian tarmac.

Pairs Well With

Complete your drivetrain setup with a pair of 3-bolt road cycling shoes, compatible replacement cleats (order a spare set at the same time), a quality pedal wrench for installation, and a lightweight carbon or alloy crankset to match the Sonic Road's performance intent.
