Special RIM Tape

Rim tape is one of the most overlooked components on a bicycle, yet it plays a direct role in preventing punctures and protecting inner tubes from spoke holes. The Vittoria Special RIM Tape brings trusted Italian engineering to this unglamorous but essential job, making it a smart choice for riders across India's diverse road conditions — from Pune's busy arterial roads to the winding climbs above Lonavala.

Use Cases

Daily training. Durable rim and reliable hub bearings for repeat training use.

Race day. Aerodynamic depth and weight-optimised construction for competitive efforts.

All-rounder. Versatile depth and width for road, gravel, or all-road riding.

Our Take

Indian roads are punishing on wheels. Potholes, sharp gravel edges, and the relentless heat of a Chennai or Delhi summer put real stress on rim beds and tubes. Vittoria's Special RIM Tape addresses that stress at the source — clean, secure coverage of spoke holes reduces pinch flat risk and helps tubes run cooler against smooth tape rather than bare alloy. At Rs. 650, it's one of the best-value upgrades a rider can make.

Sizing for Indian Riders

Rim tape sizing is determined by your rim's internal width, not your frame size. Measure the internal width of your rim bed before ordering — a tape that is too narrow leaves spoke holes exposed, while overly wide tape can bunch and create pressure points. Most road rims in India suit standard widths; wider gravel or MTB rims require a broader tape. Check your rim specification carefully.

Compatibility Notes

The Vittoria Special RIM Tape is compatible with clincher and tubeless-ready rims used with inner tubes. It is not a tubeless rim strip — for a tubeless conversion, a dedicated tubeless tape and valve is required. Apply to a clean, dry rim bed and ensure full adhesion before mounting the tyre. Replace whenever removing a tyre for a thorough inspection or after any pinch flat event.

Pairs Well With

Complete your wheel setup by pairing this rim tape with quality inner tubes suited to your tyre size, puncture-resistant road or gravel tyres, tyre levers for safe installation, and a reliable floor pump with a pressure gauge.
