Description

The Fulcrum Speed 55 Disc Brake Carbon Wheelset delivers aerodynamic depth paired with disc brake versatility for serious road riders. With a profile engineered for stability in crosswinds and speed on flat terrain, this wheelset suits everything from time trials to fast group rides across India's highways and ghat descents.

Our Take

This is a deep-section carbon wheelset built for riders chasing personal bests on time trial courses or maintaining pace through long stretches on Delhi-Jaipur or Mumbai-Pune highways. The disc brake specification means confident stopping power in monsoon conditions and on technical Western Ghats descents near Lonavala and Khandala. The rim depth balances aero gains with crosswind stability—important when riding exposed coastal sections around Chennai or windy mornings in Hyderabad. Carbon construction stays stiff under sprint efforts while the centerlock disc interface simplifies wheel changes during multiday brevets.

Sizing for Indian Riders

This wheelset is supplied as a matched front and rear pair with standard quick-release or thru-axle configurations depending on your frame specification. Verify your frame's axle standard before ordering. Rim width accommodates modern road tyres from 25c to 32c, with 28c offering the best balance between comfort on rough Indian tarmac and rolling resistance. The wider internal rim profile supports tubeless setups, recommended for monsoon puncture resistance and heat management during summer rides above 35°C.

Compatibility Notes

Compatible with Shimano, SRAM, and Campagnolo freehub bodies for 11-speed and 12-speed drivetrains. Centerlock disc rotor mounting requires appropriate lockring tools. Tubeless-ready rim bed allows tape and sealant installation for flat protection. Use manufacturer-recommended torque settings for rotor bolts. Pair with carbon-compatible brake pads to preserve rim surface. Clean regularly after monsoon rides to prevent salt and debris buildup around hub internals.

Pairs Well With

Continental GP5000 or Schwalbe Pro One tyres in 28c for all-weather grip. Shimano Ice-Tech rotors for consistent braking in heat and wet conditions. Tubeless valves and sealant for flat protection on rough Indian roads. Ceramic bearing upgrades for reduced drag on long-distance rides. Wheelset-compatible cassettes from Shimano Ultegra or SRAM Force for smooth shifting under power.

Details

The Fulcrum Speed 55 Disc features full carbon rim construction with a depth engineered for aerodynamic efficiency on flat terrain and time trial courses. Centerlock disc brake mounting provides tool-free rotor installation and removal. The wheelset uses sealed cartridge bearings for smooth rolling and low maintenance in dusty Indian conditions. Tubeless-ready rim bed supports modern tyre setups for puncture protection and ride comfort. Compatible with multiple freehub body options to suit Shimano, SRAM, and Campagnolo groupsets across 11-speed and 12-speed configurations. Includes quick-release or thru-axle compatibility depending on frame specification.

Fitting

Sold as a matched front and rear pair. Rim width accommodates road tyres from 25c to 32c, with 28c recommended for Indian road conditions balancing comfort and speed. Internal rim width supports tubeless tyre installation with proper tape and sealant. Verify your frame's axle standard—quick-release or thru-axle diameter and threading—before purchase. Freehub body options available for Shimano HG, SRAM XDR, and Campagnolo N3W standards. Rider weight recommendations apply to complete bike setup including frame stiffness and tyre pressure—consult manufacturer guidelines for maximum system weight. Deep-section wheels perform best on flat to rolling terrain rather than steep climbing routes.
