Spider 2 MTB Cycling Shoes

The Northwave Spider 2 MTB Cycling Shoes are built for riders who spend Time both on the bike and off it — navigating technical trails, gravel paths, or the unpaved edges of roads from Coorg to Lonavala. With a stiff sole for efficient power transfer, adjustable closure for a precise fit, and ventilation designed to keep feet comfortable in demanding heat, these shoes work hard across varied Indian terrain.

Use Cases

Daily training. Stiff sole and breathable upper for repeated training in Indian heat and humidity.

Race day. Power transfer and snug retention for competitive efforts.

Indoor training. Compatible with indoor trainer cleats for structured Zwift, TrainerRoad, or Wahoo SYSTM workouts.

Our Take

MTB shoes need to balance pedalling efficiency with walkability, and the Spider 2 gets this right for Indian conditions. Whether you're grinding up switchbacks in Ooty, hopping off to push through a rocky patch in the Western Ghats, or riding mixed surfaces around Pune, the stiff sole and secure closure deliver confidence. At Rs. 10,120, it's solid value for a shoe that handles both clipped-in and off-bike moments without compromising either.

Sizing for Indian Riders

Northwave MTB shoes generally run true to EU size, but Indian riders with wider forefeet — common across many foot shapes here — should consider sizing up half a size. Fit with your cycling socks before ordering. In Chennai and Hyderabad heat, feet swell during long rides; a slightly roomier fit prevents toe compression. Heel slip means too large; toe pinch means too small.

Compatibility Notes

The Spider 2 uses a 2-bolt SPD-compatible cleat pattern, making it suitable for most MTB and trail pedals. Cleats are sold separately — confirm your pedal system before ordering. Third-party insoles can be used for fit refinement. Clean the sole and cleat channels after muddy rides; Indian red soil can pack into recessed cleat pockets and affect engagement.

Pairs Well With

Complete your MTB setup by pairing the Spider 2 with compatible SPD clipless pedals, moisture-wicking cycling socks suited to Indian summer heat, a trail helmet for off-road riding, and MTB gloves for grip on technical descents. All available at Cobbled Climbs with free delivery above Rs. 2,500.
