Super 9 Road RIM Brake Wheel

The Zipp Super 9 Road RIM Brake Wheel is one of the most iconic aero wheelsets in competitive cycling — a deep-section carbon disc designed for outright speed on smooth tarmac. At Rs. 2,43,790, this is a serious investment aimed at riders chasing marginal gains on Time trials, criteriums, and flat-road race stages from Ahmedabad to Chennai's ECR corridor.

Use Cases

Daily training. Durable rim and reliable hub bearings for repeat training use.

Race day. Aerodynamic depth and weight-optimised construction for competitive efforts.

All-rounder. Versatile depth and width for road, gravel, or all-road riding.

Our Take

The Super 9 is Zipp's all-out aero statement — a full-depth carbon disc rear wheel built for speed where road surfaces allow it. On India's flatter expressways and well-surfaced race circuits, the aerodynamic advantage is real and measurable. Pair it with a shallower front wheel and quality rim-brake pads suited to carbon rims, and you have a genuinely race-winning rear end. Not a daily trainer — a race-day weapon.

Sizing for Indian Riders

This is a rear wheel in a specific rim-brake configuration. Before ordering, confirm your frame uses a QR 130mm rear axle — standard for most rim-brake road frames. Verify your brake caliper accepts carbon-specific pads. Indian summer temperatures above 35°C increase rim heat during prolonged descents on Ghats like Lonavala or Ooty — use only Zipp-approved carbon brake pads and avoid heavy braking on long descents.

Compatibility Notes

Designed for rim-brake road frames with QR 130mm rear axle spacing. Requires carbon-specific brake pads — do not use alloy-compound pads on this rim surface. Cassette body compatibility should be confirmed before ordering (Shimano HG, SRAM, or Campagnolo options vary by build). Check Zipp's recommended service intervals for hub bearings and spoke tension.

Pairs Well With

For a complete race-ready setup, consider pairing with a complementary shallow or mid-depth carbon front wheel, high-performance road tyres sized for your rim's inner width, carbon-compatible rim-brake pads, and a quality torque wrench for safe installation.
