Ultegra Br-r8000 R55c4 Brake Shoes

The Shimano Ultegra BR-R8000 R55C4 Brake Shoes are purpose-built rim brake pads for Ultegra-level caliper brakes, offering consistent stopping power across the varied conditions Indian riders face — from sun-baked Pune training roads to wet monsoon descents through the Western Ghats and the technical switchbacks above Ooty.

Use Cases

Daily training. Stiff sole and breathable upper for repeated training in Indian heat and humidity.

Race day. Power transfer and snug retention for competitive efforts.

Indoor training. Compatible with indoor trainer cleats for structured Zwift, TrainerRoad, or Wahoo SYSTM workouts.

Our Take

For riders running rim brake Ultegra groupsets, pad quality directly determines braking confidence. The R55C4 compound is Shimano's proven formulation for alloy rims, delivering reliable modulation whether you're scrubbing speed on a Lonavala descent or threading through Chennai traffic mid-monsoon. At Rs. 1,020, this is one of the most cost-effective performance upgrades you can make to a rim brake setup — fresh pads transform tired, squealing brakes into a trustworthy system.

Sizing for Indian Riders

These shoes fit Shimano's standard brake shoe holder system used across BR-R8000 Ultegra calipers. No size selection is required, but confirm your calipers are rim-type Ultegra units before ordering. Riders in high-humidity cities like Kolkata or during India's extended monsoon season should inspect pads more frequently, as wet and gritty conditions accelerate compound wear noticeably.

Compatibility Notes

The R55C4 compound is designed specifically for use with alloy rims — do not use on carbon rims, which require a dedicated carbon-specific pad compound to avoid heat damage and rim failure. These fit standard Shimano brake shoe holders on BR-R8000 Ultegra calipers. Not compatible with disc brake systems. Replace when compound depth becomes visibly low or braking feel deteriorates.

Pairs Well With

Complete your braking service with fresh Shimano brake cables and housing for consistent lever feel, quality bar tape for confident handlebar grip on technical descents, a chain lubricant suited for wet Indian conditions, and a torque wrench for safe caliper installation.
