Ultegra Br-r8010 Direct Mount Brake Calipers

The Shimano Ultegra BR-R8010 Direct Mount Brake Calipers bring Ultegra-grade stopping performance to road bikes equipped with direct-mount frame mounts. Designed for riders who demand consistent modulation across varying conditions — from Pune's morning club rides to demanding Lonavala and Khandala descents — these calipers sit just below Dura-Ace in Shimano's road hierarchy and deliver measurably better feel than 105-level components.

Use Cases

Daily training. Reliable use across Indian training conditions — heat, humidity, and rough tarmac.

Race day. Performance-grade construction for competitive efforts.

Long rides. Built for full-day rides across Western Ghats, Sahyadri, or Nilgiri climbs.

Our Take

Rim brake riders tackling Western Ghats climbs or monsoon-soaked roads in Coorg and Ooty will appreciate the BR-R8010's precise cable pull response and firm, controlled bite. The direct-mount standard reduces brake arm flex versus traditional single-bolt calipers, translating to sharper modulation when it matters most — mid-descent on a wet surface. For Indian riders who choose rim brakes for weight savings, this is a genuinely capable choice at a fair price point.

Sizing for Indian Riders

These are rim brake calipers requiring a direct-mount frame and fork — not standard single-bolt caliper mounts. Confirm your frame has front and rear direct-mount bosses before ordering. Reach adjustment accommodates most road rim brake wheelsets. No European sizing applies here, but verify your rim width is within standard road brake reach range before purchase.

Compatibility Notes

Compatible with Shimano Ultegra and Dura-Ace brake levers (STI), as well as third-party road levers using standard cable pull ratios. Works with alloy brake tracks only — do not use on carbon rims without carbon-specific brake pads. Pair with Shimano R55C4 cartridge pads or equivalent. Direct-mount standard requires correct frame bosses front and rear.

Pairs Well With

Round out your braking setup with Shimano-compatible brake cables and housing for precise cable pull, cartridge brake pads suited to your rim surface, a quality cable tension tool for accurate setup, and a complete Ultegra or 105 groupset for a matched drivetrain feel.
