Ultegra Br-r8010 R55c4 Brake Shoes

The Shimano Ultegra BR-R8010 R55C4 Brake Shoes are purpose-built replacement pads for Ultegra-level rim brake calipers. Designed for alloy rims, these pads deliver consistent stopping power and reliable modulation whether you are navigating Pune city traffic, descending the Lonavala Ghats, or riding wet Chennai roads during the monsoon season.

Use Cases

Daily training. Stiff sole and breathable upper for repeated training in Indian heat and humidity.

Race day. Power transfer and snug retention for competitive efforts.

Indoor training. Compatible with indoor trainer cleats for structured Zwift, TrainerRoad, or Wahoo SYSTM workouts.

Our Take

For riders running Shimano Ultegra rim brake calipers, the R55C4 compound is the correct factory-spec replacement — not a generic substitute. On long Western Ghats descents, where brake fade is a genuine concern, these pads manage heat and maintain feel better than off-brand alternatives. At Rs. 1,000, they are an easy, affordable service item that restores braking confidence quickly and keeps your groupset performing as Shimano intended.

Sizing for Indian Riders

These pads are specific to Shimano Ultegra BR-R8010 rim brake calipers and are designed for alloy rims only — do not fit them to carbon rims, which require a dedicated carbon-specific compound. No size selection is needed; confirm your caliper model matches BR-R8010 before ordering. Riders in humid coastal cities like Mumbai, Chennai, or Kolkata should inspect pads more frequently due to accelerated compound wear from grit and moisture.

Compatibility Notes

Compatible with Shimano Ultegra BR-R8010 rim brake calipers only. The R55C4 compound is rated for alloy rims — use on carbon rims will damage the rim surface and cause dangerous brake failure. These are not disc brake pads. Check that your existing brake shoe holders accept the cartridge-style R55C4 insert, which is the standard fit for Ultegra and 105 rim calipers. Replace pads as a pair per wheel.

Pairs Well With

Complete your brake service with fresh Shimano-compatible brake cables and housing, a quality cable tension tool, bar tape for a full cockpit refresh, and a bike-specific cleaning kit to keep rims and pads free of the road grime common on Indian highways.
