Aileron 27.5/650b Disc Brake Rim

The Velocity Aileron 27.5" Disc Brake Rim in Silver is a trail-ready wheel component built for riders who demand reliability and clean aesthetics. Designed for disc brake systems, these rims suit everything from weekend gravel loops around Pune to demanding singletrack descents in Coorg and Ooty. At Rs. 9,200, they offer a compelling entry point for riders building or upgrading a capable 27.5" wheelset.

Our Take

India's mixed riding conditions — broken tarmac on the outskirts of Hyderabad, loose gravel in the Western Ghats, and muddy trails post-monsoon in Coorg — demand rims that can absorb punishment without complaint. The Aileron's disc-specific construction means braking forces go where they should, keeping the rim sidewall free from wear. The silver finish resists the visual grime that builds up on Indian trails remarkably well, and the clean look ages gracefully through multiple seasons of riding.

Sizing for Indian Riders

These are 27.5" (650B) rims, a format that suits riders of average to slightly taller build — typically those between 165–185 cm — who want nimble handling without going full 29". If you're building a new wheelset, confirm your frame's wheel size compatibility before ordering. No European clothing sizing conversion applies here; simply match the rim diameter to your frame specification.

Compatibility Notes

These rims are designed exclusively for disc brake systems and are not compatible with rim brake setups. They work with standard 27.5" tyres and tubes. Check spoke hole count before purchasing to ensure it matches your hub. Suitable for both tubeless-ready and clincher tyre setups — confirm with your local builder. Clean rim bed and spoke holes periodically, especially after monsoon rides.

Pairs Well With

Complete your build with a quality disc brake hub set, double-butted spokes for a durable yet lightweight wheel build, 27.5" tubeless-ready tyres suited to Indian trail conditions, and rim tape designed for tubeless conversion. A torque wrench for spoke tensioning is also a worthwhile addition to any home workshop setup.
