Vigilante External Headset

The Token Vigilante External Headset is a precision-engineered headset designed to keep your fork spinning smoothly and your steering crisp. Whether you're navigating the broken tarmac of Pune's ring roads, tackling the sustained climbs toward Lonavala, or logging daily kilometres through Chennai's humid corridors, a quality external headset is a foundation component that rewards attention.

Use Cases

Daily training. Reliable construction for repeat use.

Race day. Lightweight, stiff design for power transfer and aerodynamics.

Fit adjustment. Right stem length critical for comfortable bike fit.

Our Take

Token's Vigilante sits in a sweet spot for Indian riders who want reliable steering performance without overspending. External cup headsets are easier to service than integrated designs — a genuine advantage given India's dusty conditions and monsoon grit that work their way into bearings faster than you'd expect. At Rs. 2,650, this is a sensible upgrade for a worn-out original headset on any road or commuter build. Straightforward to install and maintain at home.

Sizing for Indian Riders

External headsets are sized by head tube diameter — the most common standard for road bikes in India is 1-1/8 inch straight steerer. Verify your frame's head tube spec before ordering. If you're unsure, a local mechanic in Hyderabad, Delhi, or Bengaluru can measure this in minutes. Token's external cup design suits a wide range of steel, aluminium, and entry carbon frames popular across the country.

Compatibility Notes

The Vigilante is an external cup (threaded-style crown race fit) headset. Confirm your frame accepts external cups and that your fork steerer diameter matches. Works with standard ahead stem setups. Bearings should be cleaned and lightly greased periodically, especially after monsoon riding in Mumbai or Kolkata where water ingress accelerates wear.

Pairs Well With

Complete your cockpit refresh by pairing this headset with a quality stem, compatible drop or flat handlebars, bar tape suited to India's humid conditions, and a torque wrench for precise installation. Explore these categories at Cobbled Climbs for a complete build-up.
