Description

The Fulcrum Wind 40 Disc Brake Carbon Wheelset delivers aero performance and disc braking precision for Indian road cyclists chasing speed on the flats and descents. With a versatile rim profile suited to varied terrain from Mumbai's coastal roads to the Pune-Lonavala expressway, these wheels balance aerodynamic efficiency with crosswind stability—critical when tackling Western Ghats descents or exposed highway stretches in gusty conditions.

Our Take

Fulcrum's Wind 40 strikes an excellent balance for Indian all-rounders. The mid-depth profile cuts through still air on Chennai's East Coast Road or Hyderabad's ORR without becoming a sail in coastal crosswinds. Disc braking ensures consistent stopping power through monsoon downpours and heat-faded descents above 35°C, while the carbon layup handles our potholed national highways better than fragile race-only hoops. At this price point, you're getting Italian engineering that won't leave you stranded when roads deteriorate past city limits.

Sizing for Indian Riders

These wheels are designed for standard road bike frames with thru-axle disc mounts. Verify your frame's axle standards (12x100mm front, 12x142mm rear are most common) before ordering. The rim width accommodates tyres from narrow race rubber to wider comfort setups—ideal for Indian riders who need puncture protection on variable road surfaces. Cobbled Climbs offers free delivery above Rs. 2,500 with cash on delivery across India if you need to inspect fitment before payment.

Compatibility Notes

Compatible with Shimano/SRAM HG freehub bodies and centerlock disc rotors. Works with both 11-speed and 12-speed drivetrains. Recommended for clincher or tubeless tyre setups; tubeless offers better puncture resistance for Indian roads. Clean brake rotors with isopropyl alcohol after wet rides to prevent monsoon-related contamination. Use manufacturer-recommended spoke tension and hub service intervals to maintain performance in dusty conditions common to Delhi, Ahmedabad, and Pune.

Pairs Well With

Pair with high-quality tubeless road tyres for puncture protection, ceramic bearing upgrades for smoother rolling in sandy conditions, premium disc brake pads rated for sustained heat, and a reliable floor pump with accurate pressure gauge. Consider adding tubeless sealant designed for tropical climates to handle thorns and road debris across longer Indian brevets and sportives.

Details

The Fulcrum Wind 40 Disc Brake Carbon Wheelset features a mid-depth carbon rim profile engineered for aerodynamic efficiency without extreme crosswind sensitivity. Disc brake-specific construction accommodates centerlock rotors for consistent braking in wet and dry conditions. Thru-axle compatibility ensures modern frame integration with secure wheel retention. The carbon layup is optimized for stiffness-to-weight performance suited to competitive road cycling and long-distance endurance rides. Compatible with tubeless and clincher tyre setups, offering versatility for Indian road conditions ranging from smooth tarmac to rougher rural surfaces.

Fitting

Fulcrum Wind 40 wheelsets are built to universal road bike standards with thru-axle disc brake mounts. Confirm your frame and fork accept 12mm thru-axles (typical standards: 12x100mm front, 12x142mm rear) before purchase. The internal rim width supports tyre widths from racing profiles to wider comfort-oriented rubber—important for Indian cyclists balancing speed with puncture protection. If running tubeless, ensure your chosen tyres are tubeless-ready and compatible with the rim's internal width for proper bead seating. Cobbled Climbs staff can assist with fitment questions via phone or email, and cash on delivery allows inspection of axle compatibility before final payment.
