X-race Saddle

Choosing the right saddle is one of the most personal decisions in cycling. The Selle Italia X-race Saddle is built for riders who demand performance and comfort in equal measure — whether you're grinding up the Western Ghats, clocking early-morning laps in Pune, or building base miles on Chennai's coastal roads in punishing summer heat.

Use Cases

Daily training. All-day comfort across 2-3 hour training rides in Indian conditions.

Race day. Race-cut profile with cutout for time-trial and aggressive fit positions.

Long endurance rides. Pressure-relief construction for rides exceeding four hours.

Our Take

The X-race sits firmly in Selle Italia's performance-oriented range, making it a strong choice for Indian riders who train consistently and want a saddle that transfers power without sacrificing comfort over longer efforts. In 35°C+ conditions — standard across Delhi, Hyderabad, and Ahmedabad for much of the year — the saddle's shell design and cover material become critical factors. Give it at least five to six rides before forming a firm opinion; break-in time rewards patience.

Sizing for Indian Riders

Saddle fit is determined by sit-bone width, not height or weight. Most Indian riders fall in the 130–155mm sit-bone range. To measure at home, sit on a piece of cardboard, locate the two pressure marks, measure between their centres, and add approximately 25mm. Selle Italia saddles typically run true to their stated width, so follow this measurement rather than guessing by feel.

Compatibility Notes

The X-race is compatible with standard 7×7mm rail seatpost clamps, which covers the vast majority of road and gravel seatposts. Match your seatpost diameter to your frame — common sizes are 27.2mm, 30.9mm, and 31.6mm. If your seatpost uses a carbon rail clamp, apply manufacturer-specified torque values only and use carbon assembly paste to prevent slipping.

Pairs Well With

For the best possible setup, consider pairing the X-race with quality padded bib shorts for long rides in summer heat, a compatible road or gravel seatpost, chamois cream for monsoon and high-humidity days, and a lightweight saddle bag to carry essentials on training rides and brevets.
